It was supposed to be a room with balcony but there is only a big window looking like a balcony door but it is too narrow to even get inside so basically there was no balcony. And also a bit noisy in the nights but due to location, it is expectable.

The balcony was very small. Not that we didn't like it, it was nice to be able to go out there even if it was very small. Just a little surprised about the size.

The how water isn't very stable so you can feel a bit cold in this second and hot in the next.

Very good location where you can go almost every famous tourist attraction in the city of Madrid. Room in 5th floor is very quiet, lights are good enough in the room so you won't feel too dark even w/o window open. The air condition works well. The shower may be a little bit small, but it's clean and good enough to shower.

There was no breakfast. There was no tea pot, no water, not even a cup in the room. Some of the personnel very unfrendly.

Yes it's a bit basic but reflects the price and great location makes up for it! Also was quite hard to find initially, there's not really any signage that says Hotel Alaska, it's next to the irish bar I think and is a door that leads to other hotels within the same building. There's a tiny white sign that says Alaska on it somewhere. Took us ages to find in the middle of the night because our booking.com taxi driver dropped us off on nearby road (not out front) and gave us wrong directions to where it is, so we spend ages with heavy bags walking up and down streets until we found it. Call them if you're unsure, but got to understand Spanish.

Location was great, close walking distance to main squares. Lots of great restaurants around. Room was nothing too fancy but comfortable and heater was appreciated in winter. There is a working elevator to get to the 4th floor to the hotel. Affordable option when you're spending most of your time outside sightseeing Madrid. Hot water in shower.

The street was very noisy, especially during the Saturday night... The bed was a bit narrow for two persons, but the mattress was comfortable.

The rooms are very clean and nicely furnished. The location in the city center is perfect: many shops, restaurants and clubs are very close.

Hard to find the hotel. Could use better instructions or set expectations about how to find it. lift was dodgy and 4 flights of stairs. No security box,

Minor improvements could be: kettle for basic tea/coffee. Nicer soap dispensers. But this didn’t affect the enjoyment of my stay.

We did not know where the noise, sometimes, was coming from.

The location is excellent. Near Sol Metro, lots of restaurants, stores like El Corte Inglés, several “cafes” nearby for breakfast specially La Mallorquina, several attractions nearby. The perfection location allowed us to visit many attractions “walking”. I would stay again in this hostal.

The bed should have been a queen. Too small for two people. The balcony was unusable because of the ac unit. There was a sewer smell at times in the room when we l didn't have the window open.

Entrance is a little bit hard to find because it's a small gate/door into an old residential building in between commercial shops on the ground. Don't expect anything fancy but I would still recommend it.

Location is fantastic. Right at the heart of Madrid's center where everything is there! Very homey, so it felt like staying at a friend's place. I'm surprised how clean and comfortable the room is & it's quite spacious. And even though it's in the middle of the hustle & bustle, the room has good soundproofing. Staff is very friendly.
