Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsPool wasn't open during our stay (contrary to the date announced on the website). Cooking utensils are very basic. All bedrooms were furnished with twin beads, we would have preferred at least one double bed.
We stayed in the 6 person cottage which had lots of space around it, completely immersed in the orchard at the edge of the national park. Granada was only a 15 minute drive and large shops are only 8 minutes away. Indoors was decent, relatively well equipped albeit somewhat dated.

Latviasince we came here in march, off season, it was a little bit cold in the house even with the heating, but that is understandable because it was a cold night. be ready in off season to take something warmer.
The location is beautiful! also you can walk arround the territory, plenty of places to enjoy the view. the cortijo also very beautiful inside - rural atmosphere. highly recommend!

United KingdomUnfortunately our stay was spoilt by some very noisy neighbours who talked in very loud voices until after midnight 4 nights out of 7 right outside our bedroom window. This was very annoying as we were trying to get up early to go walking and expected the property to be quiet and peaceful. We struggled with not having air con as despite the fans it was still very hot at night, so not pleasant in mid summer. The property did not have a DVD player or a BBQ as described and we found the freezer compartment in the small fridge did not work well. Finally there were a large amount of wasps around the pool and in the outside eating area, so although we did eat outside the wasps were continually landing on our food.
The apartment we stayed in was very clean, attractive and rustic, the beds were comfortable and the position down a long track was nice and rural. The property was good value for money and the pool was beautiful, clean and a good size. The lady who met us was nice and welcoming, although we did not speak Spanish she made an effort to explain everything. We were on a walking holiday and we found the position quite good to access a variety of walks as well as close enough to enjoy the sights of Granada.

SpainThe hot water pressure is very low.
The location is ideal. Just a short drive into Granada and only a few minutes into La Zubia centre. I loved the fact that you can park right outside the front door of your own private cottage. The property is rustic but spotlessly clean, and the beds are brand new and extremely comfortable. Something I didn't expect, but was grateful for, was the central heating. You are surrounded by nature, which my dog absolutely loves, so we did some good, long walks. I would definitely recommend it and would definitely stay here again.

CanadaCortijo Balzain is located in an ideal location for people who enjoy hiking & mountain biking & for those wishing to explore Granada, which is only a short drive away. The cortjo was well equipped with everything we needed for our time there & was amazingly clean. Patri was a wonderful host & was able to upgrade our cortijo for a larger one for our group & made us & our dogs very welcome. If you’re looking for a peaceful, serene, & tranquil location with amazing views & hiking/mountain biking trails right out of your front door, you have found it at Cortijo Balzain. La Zubia is a short 5 minute drive & where we found all the services we needed, & historic Granada is just 12 km away, approximately 20 + minute drive. Thank you again, Patri, for making our stay truly memorable! We hope to stay at Cortijo Balzain when we visit the Granada area again. ❤️❤️

GermanyThe first evening it was a bit cold (mid-March) and it took a while for the heating to kick in.
We stayed for 2 nights and were really pleased with the quite location at the foot of the Sierra Nevada, nestled in an almond tree orchard with lots of stunning sunsets/sunrises and views over Granada/La Zubia. A great starting point for hikes. The apartment had a small terrace and allowed for breakfast in the sunshine and dinner at sunset. The kitchen had everything we needed for self-catering and the living room was spacious. We really enjoyed our stay & would have loved to stay longer.

MaltaPlace felt like it was cleaned a long time before we arrived. We also asked for a cot for our 3 month old and when we arrived we found it in storage, broken and full of dust and insects so we didn't use it.
Location was perfect for exploring Granada while also getting away in a quiet location. Nicely decorated houses too.

United KingdomWould have appreciated more information about which bins to use for recycling: we are keen re-cyclers, but got a bit confused. Also an explanation of the notice "Prohibido bañarse" on the gate to the swimming pool in English would have been appreciated - we eventually realised it was directed at hikers/passers by, not at residents of the complex, but it stopped us swimming on the first day! But these are small details. It would be lovely if the restaurant could re-open, but we understand that the constraints of the pandemic have made it difficult to maintain everything.
Idyllic place, beautiful ancient farm buildings sensitively restored, balanced between retaining the lovely old features while making them comfortable for 21st century expectations: a wonderful spacious interior, mighty thick walls and plenty of ventilation meaning there is no need for modern air conditioning. Plenty of light, too, both natural and electric. Super comfortable sofas to relax on. The swimming pool is another delight, clean and refreshing, surrounded by whispering trees, much appreciated after a long day exploring the Alhambra. Access to the property is along a well-maintained track, clearly signposted. There are fabulous views over Granada and surroundings from the terrace, wonderful walks to be taken, and lots of birds to spot - bee eaters, golden orioles... So close to Granada, yet in an utterly peaceful, noise-free location. Our hosts were quick to respond to queries, and generously allowed us to stay later on check-out day. I can't imagine a better place to stay, and we didn't want to leave!

GibraltarWe didn’t like the fact that we weren’t allowed to use the fireplace, as that was one of the main reasons why we booked the accommodation. House wasn’t sound proofed so we could hear the kids screaming in the house next door. Shower pressure wasn’t great.
I liked that it was just outside of Granada and very quiet in nature. Host was very helpful and brought us a toaster when ours wasn’t working.
