How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Food was only half cooked and really not good but it was expensive.

We were advised on arrival that the hotel restaurant was not open which was a disappointment. But there are plenty of restaurants in the area.
On site parking. Very warm welcome by reception staff. The room was basic but in keeping with the traditional decor of the building. The shower room was new and a nice surprise. The breakfast was excellent, fresh and plenty of choice.

I didn’t like the one narrow pillow but I think it’s a Spain thing.

There is a main road in front of the hotel which is quite busy during the day but quiet at night.
Friendly small hotel -comfortable rooms, very clean. Short walk into the centre of Santillana. Easy parking. Great breakfast.

No air-con - I'm not normally that bothered but it was particularly hot for the time of year. Luckily, we had two windows we could open in the late evening to get some cooler air through.
The room was spacious and clean. Great location with parking and an easy stroll into town. As a bonus, the breakfast buffet was excellent including fresh fruit and freshly cooked eggs and bacon.

There was a bit of a humid smell in the room, so we needed to open the windows to circulate the air. I didn't appreciate the fact that if you wanted a specific coffee, it was an additional price besides the breakfast that we had already paid (really a minor detail). Also, pillows were quite uncomfortable in my opinion.
We enjoyed the overall stay, the convenience was great—easy to park, great location. Big rooms with nice views and complete silence. The breakfast was nice.

Starting to get old (lobby was lovely, room not as much), lighting not great, the toilet seat in our bathroom kept slipping to the side and needs to be fixed (room 2)
Easy to find, good parking onsite, close to Old Town, overhead fan was nice. We didn’t have breakfast but I poked my head in and it looked like a good spread

The staff, owner was very very help with a motorcycle problem. Great location with private free parking for our motorcycles. Also only a few minute walk in the brilliant old town of Santillana de Mar, well worth a days looking around.

Free parking and nice breakfast. Only around 30 minutes from the Santander ferry port. Will stay there again.

We had to leave early the next morning to meet a tour. We were told that we can get our breakfast to go at 7am. We woke up early and waited till 720am and no one showed up. We had to drive off without breakfast.
The location is fantastic. A short walk into the be old town for good food. Staff were helpful in making recommendations.

Delightful hotel, slightly quirky. Breakfast was excellent and better than most higher cost hotels that we stayed in during our trip to Spain. Staff very pleasant and helpful - excellent English spoken. Good location and, unlike other hotels from this trip, the car park was easy to get into and out of.

There is nothing not to like about this hotel
Welcoming staff, clean and very comfortable. Tastefully decorated and easy to access by car on edge of the old part of town within easy walking distance.

A kettle in the room would be a great addition.
Private parking. Very close to old town. Spotless. Lovely garden to enjoy a beer. Lovely breakfast with excellent scrambled eggs freshly cooked.

Restaurant was closed during our stay but no problem as several local restaurants.
Great location with own car park very comfortable room with great walk in shower, breakfast was excellent. Very friendly staff.
