How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI had a very pleasant stay at César Hotel in Vilanova. The experience was excellent overall. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The location was perfect—just a short walk to the sea and conveniently close to many restaurants and local attractions. The hotel’s own restaurant was also impressive, offering great food and service. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

Verified reviewThe staff were really helpful and we couldn’t ask for more. It was an older style hotel and we really liked this. Our room was what you might describe as a suite but also had a kitchen area. The bed was very large.

Verified reviewReview for Hotel César, Vilanova I had a great stay at Hotel César! Despite my late arrival, the receptionist kindly waited for me and ensured everything was in order for a smooth check-in, which I really appreciated. My room was very spacious and had a beautiful sea view, making my stay even more enjoyable. The breakfast was lovely—although we were the first ones to arrive, the staff made sure we had everything we needed, which was a nice touch. The hotel's location is fantastic, just a few steps from the beach. I visited during the winter season, so I didn’t get to enjoy sunny beach days, but I can imagine this place being perfect for a summer getaway. Overall, it was a lovely stay with friendly service, a great location, and comfortable accommodations. I’d love to come back in the summer to fully enjoy everything the hotel has to offer!
I didn’t use the pool, so I can’t comment on that, but I did ask about the sauna and, unfortunately, it wasn’t working that day. I really wish it had been, as the cold weather made me crave some warmth and relaxation.

Verified reviewThis family run hotel has a lot of history and was very lovely, the staff were kind and super helpful. The room was very clean with a authentic Spanish feel.
The TV was very small and the windows were old so when wind blew at night it was very noisy

Verified reviewThe hotel is very close to the beach, for this reason it is an excellent location. The hotel does not have a hotel beach, the beach is public, but it is still clean and we like it that way. It is right next to the beach promenade where you can find restaurants, bars or ice cream parlours. It's about 10 minutes walk to the town centre, which is also absolutely great. Although the hotel is close to the beach action, it is in a very quiet area, there is also a park close behind the hotel. The location of the hotel is very good within the city. The train station is about a 20 minute walk, which is also still fine. The staff at the hotel is what makes it one of the best things about the hotel. The people staying at the hotel were friendly decent people, it's a quiet family run hotel. Housekeeping daily. Also very interesting is that the hotel has its own swimming pool, not very big for swimming, more for relaxing, but very good for kids. The pool also has a counter-current water flow. Also there you will find a sauna. Near the pool there is a bar. The hotel also has a restaurant and it looked very good, they will also make a picnic for you on the beach. We didn't use it though, so next time. I can't rate the parking, we went by train. The room wasn't very big, but it was quite sufficient for two. The powerful air conditioning helped a lot. The room also had a refrigerator and a desk to work at. The overall impression of the hotel is very good, it feels like a small but cozy friendly family hotel. I would especially rate the interior of the hotel, it was very nice, everything is tuned in a retro classic impressive style, which is probably what I liked the most about the hotel. I hope we will come back to the hotel.
Someone may mind that the bathroom had a window into the room and could not be darkened. I would also have appreciated a shower instead of a bathtub, or a slightly larger bathtub. I have nothing more to complain about.

Verified reviewExcellent location - so close to the beach and the town.
The bedroom we stayed in was very small and did not match up with any of the photos on the website. The walls between bedroom were very thin and I could hear people talking in room next door. Bathroom was very outdated. There was a large cockroach in downstairs ladies bathroom.
