The mattress was not great. The pool only opens at 11 am.

Julia was a delight. The pool is lovely and the rooms are very nicely decorated. I also appreciated the toiletries. Breakfast is wonderful with good quality products.

Only a few little things - coffee pods didn’t fit in the machines (we stayed in 2 different rooms because we liked it so much we wanted another night and they made it happen for us). No real complaints! A beautiful place .

Gorgeous old castle - great proximity to Cadaques and Figueres & Girona. Would have loved another night or 2. The renovations in the building are very new and luxurious - the castle has been in the family for over 600 years. It’s delightful - still has a new feeling but think it will really grow into itself well.

The location is amazing. The castle is very charming and beautifully renovated. The manager and personnel do everything to make you feel welcome. Everyone is very kind and relaxed. The breakfast was great with fresh orange juice, cheese, dried ham, omelet or fried eggs freshly made. We loved it here.

Fantastic stay in this beautiful renovated castle . It has been renovated to an extremly high standard and everything is perfect . The breakfast was excellent and felix the owner is very engaging . We were also recomended by him a lovely restaurant in the nearby beautiful old town .

The room was slightly cold with just a air heater even though there were 3 radiators they were not on. Would be perfect in the summer but the night time in January was chilly.

This is a beautiful location in the Spanish countryside, near many quaint medievil villages. Our room was so lovely and very comfortable. We borrowed bikes and went into the nearby town. Breakfast was delicious. Overall this was an outstanding experience. Would love to come back again in the spring!! Also if you come, go see the Dali museum in Figueres. Excellent!!

Nothing. I have to write more to complete this review but there was nothing I did not like. I found it to be the perfect balance between luxury and coziness. The interiors are beautiful but you feel at home too.

The hotel is beautiful, comfortable and spotless. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented! Breads, pastries, cereal, fruits, ham, eggs, avocado and tomatoes, oranges to make juice and I am sure I am forgetting things! The breakfast room is so cozy with a fireplace and elegant but very comfortable seating. I did not want to leave!

Castell de Vallagornera is nothing short of heaven. The location, the building, the land and the history make it such a pleasant place to find an escape. The location forces you to relax with a soft hand - so needed after a busy year. Frans and his team ensured we were comfortable, welcomed and looked after our entire time there. This new hotel is underrated - 3 stars is too little. I expect now is your chance to see this place before it receives its 4th if not 5th star. I would recommend everyone stays with them sooner than later before they’re fully booked for the foreseeable future.

Only about the flies that went to our room and dining room. Also the shower area in the bathroom is a bit dark. Hope they can fix these.

The staff (Franz and a lady in the morning) are very polite, friendly and helpful. The property is very beautiful. The room is very nice and clean, we love it much. We love that they prepare slippers since the floor is cold. It is very suitable for couple since the place is very quite. The breakfast is also nice, it would be nicer if the waitress can speak english :) Thanks!

What's not to like? This is a lovely old castle renovated to luxury standards. Everything is arranged for one's comfort and enjoyment. Franz, the manager, was so friendly and helpful. Our room was incredible and included a deep soaking tub and double shower, fantastically comfortable king bed with luxurious linens, and it was spacious. The outdoor living space is most inviting, as is the covered living area. Breakfast was copious and could be enjoyed inside or in the charming courtyard. It's quiet and very calm location is perfect for a "get away from it all" vacation.

We liked everything about our stay. It was slightly remote, yet close to Girona, Figueres, Cadaqués, wineries and a few lovely restaurants ( Cal SAGRISTA in Peralada was amazing) The accommodation was so authentic and chill. Perfect for "unplugging". The property is exceptionally well appointed; beautiful decor, in room linen robes, lovely soaking tub, farm sink in the room, powerful rain shower, stocked refrig, nice breakfast and comfy bed. The service was also wonderful. The owner/mngr was very helpful, kind and fun! He made sure his guests were having a great experience. I would highly recommend this A++ property!
