Wonderful location high up away from the tourists in valley. Fantastic breakfast. Dinner good but expensive but great view. There is a cheaper restaurant 5 mins walk away but food very average. Host great at communication and attention to detail. We loved our stay here

Amazing and unique location. The house is so pretty and the view from the terrace where we have breakfast at is just stunning. The location is very handy for walks to Bulnes and the Ruta del Cares. And it is so nice to be able to stay in rustic location but with proper high pressure hot water.

My husband and I stayed at Casa Maru in late May and this picturesque B&B was the highlight of our trip! Jhousy is kind and helpful ... and her hospitality is off the charts. Breakfasts are absolute perfection (make sure you have at least one dinner there as well). This is the perfect location to base your adventures, or even to simply get off the grid to relax in nature.

The drive up does involve lots of hairpin bends and is very steep so not for the faint-hearted but was completely worth it.

We had an amazing stay at Casa Maru for 2 nights. The host Jhousy was great - she was very kind, made us feel very welcome, cooked a delicious dinner for us and gave us really great recommendations for walks/ activities/ food. Breakfast (again prepared by Jhousy) was also great - by far the best we had on our trip. The attention to detail and effort put in to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible was also very obvious. The house itself is in an incredible location with incredible views over the Picos and we had the pleasure of watching vultures and eagles flying over the adjacent valley while having breakfast. I couldn't recommend highly enough.

Incredible views, food and host. We had problems with our car and were given so much help from our host including a lift into a nearby town and over 20 mins on the phone to our rental company as I don't speak Spanish. This is a unique place to stay and in prime position if you want to do the gorge walk.

I. can't think of anything. I wasn't a huge fan of the restaurant in the village, but that has nothing to do with Casa Maru.

There are two things that make this place wonderful: Josie and the location of Casa Maru. Josie is such a warm, kind, interesting person, and her breakfasts are beyond spectacular. This was really one of the best breakfasts I have had anywhere. Josie was just such a delight to talk to as well. The house itself is in a tiny village up the hill from where all the tourists are. When the weather is clear, there are perfect views of the mountains. Waking up the next day I was in awe at how amazingl the views were. I am so glad we stayed here. This was really one of the best decisions of our trip.

We loved the property! Visitors should just be aware that the road to get up there is quite steep and all hairpin turns which can be intimidating at first.

Casa Maru was a wonderful experience. Beautiful home, probably the loveliest, most attentive host in all of Booking.com, majestic surroundings - truly heavenly.

This was one of the best b&b experiences we have ever had! Josie is an amazing host and her property is truly dreamy. Pictures don't do the location justice - it is nestled high up into the craggy mountainside with absolutely jaw dropping views from the rooms and terrace. Breakfast was incredible and so was the location- 1.5 km from the start of la ruta del cares and the trail to Bulnes (we did both) and also close to restaurants and a little town. Josie's recommendations were excellent and she was generous and kind. I wish we had had more than 3 nights there to hike more.

Stove ran out of gas, but was quickly replaced. Power went out on the last night due to a big storm, but we got it back on first thing in the morning. I think its critical to say how little these things impacted how much we enjoyed staying here.

Only thing to mention is that you need to manage a couple of steep and tight hairpin turns to reach the house by car. We had some difficulty in managing those, maybe due to the rental car, my driving skills or the combination of both. However, it was definitely worth the effort!

Beautiful place in a quiet small town uphill with great views on the Picos. The house is very nice, with a lot of attention for details and a nice terrace that we enjoyed a lot. Also the owners gave very useful information on hikes and restaurants, and they provided for nice ingredients to have a good breakfast.

Flies were a bother. Needs real coffee maker, instant is just not acceptable for a place of this quality. Rented entire house, but was not able to pick bedroom. They selected one for us. Not how it is usually done. Bbq would be nice for patio.

The view alone is worth staying here. Best in entire area. Nice feature, we were supplied with milk, bread, cake, fruit, butter. Added to our stay. Plan to cook in, since road could be dangerous at night. Quiet except for goats looking in windows. Fantastic patio. Would stay there again. Highly recommend.

This beautiful Casa is stunning throughout, renovated to a very high standard. Jhousy greeted us so warmly and made us feel instantly welcome. The views from the property are priceless and I’ll never forget breakfast sitting outside; possibly our best breakfast experience ever! The Casa is perfectly located for several incredible walks. Wow, no words to describe what an incredible place this is! The best view and breakfast you will have in your life, in a truly one-of-a-kind location full of sweet details like beautiful flowers and other treats in the house to make the trip extra special. Johsi is the sweetest host and an incredible woman - she speaks great Spanish and English, and helped us park our manual car when we were struggling to get up the help. We felt right at home with her kindness and all of the cozy details. Regret not staying longer, but for sure will be planning a trip just to come back to such a wonderful, relaxing, heart-warming place!

Our stay at Casa Maru was magical and one we’ll never forget. The beautifully designed home, remote location (but with mobile and wifi!), breathtaking views of the Picos de Europa, and close proximity to the legendary Cares Trailhead were perfect for a couple like us who love hiking, but seek luxury when off the trail. In addition to the stellar location, the host’s warmth, hospitality, and culinary expertise were above and beyond our expectations. She greeted us like old friends, made us feel right at home, and also gave us privacy to enjoy our solitude. When we get the opportunity to visit Casa Maru again, we will undoubtedly book a longer stay. It truly is a hidden gem.

I do think the listing is misleading. A hot tub is listed but there is no hot tub. A spa bath & also a bath are listed. There is simply 1 spa bath. It could be a translation issue where hot tub is being used to mean bath, but spa bath & bath are also listed. Certainly in English a hot tub is a specific outdoor tub. This was disappointing. Also where the fixtures & fittings are to a high standard I was disappointed that the lights hanging in the kitchen are false/for decoration only.

The location is wonderful and the views breath-taking. The final part of the drive up a series of hair-pin bends is not for the faint of heart but is memorable. Carmen keeps the place in order and is very helpful. The house is perfect for trekking - high up to El Cuetòn (very tough but well worth it for the spectacular 360 degree view) or across the valley to Bulnes.

We spent three nights at Casa Maru and had a wonderful time! The house is lovely and the views are unbeatable. It’s a great spot for relaxing and accessing the many trails in the area. We really enjoyed chatting with Jhousy and the other guests who were staying there. We had dinner at Casa Maru one night which was a bit pricey but delicious. Jhousy is a great cook. The breakfasts were all top notch. One tip would be to bring some extra snacks with you just in case. The one restaurant near Casa Maru was closed the night we arrived and we were too tired from driving and hiking all day to venture out again (Jhousy offered to drive us into town to get some food which was extremely thoughtful of her—thanks Jhousy!). I cannot recommend Casa Maru highly enough!
