The bedrooms were much better than in the photos! White, pressed linen with their own logo. The hotel was warm, friendly, clean and calm. So calm that I thought I was the only guest until I went downstairs at breakfast! The owners are warm and welcoming and try their best to accommodate different languages, even if this isn't easy for them. I appreciated the little ecology efforts found in the room. Lots of greenery outside my window...and as a bonus, had mosquito screens so I could sleep with the windows open.

There was no water in the room or ac. And the shampoo situation was odd. Definitely want your own toiletries.

This is a small family owned hotel and we were very late in arriving. They accommodated that. The beds were comfortable (we had a twin) and the breakfast was a nice surprise for how basic and low cost the hotel is. Slabs of melon for breakfast. This place is cared with little touches but is very basic. A good base for exploring. Nice and clean. I would expect the restaurant which is a sweet set up is very nice.

Great location to pass the night and have very good dinner during a cycling trip

Since we wanted to leave early for a long day of cycling, around 7 a.m., we asked for a simple breakfast to be prepared the night before. Our Spanish is far from good, but we thought the host confirmed us to take care of this. Unfortunately, no breakfast was waiting for us the next morning. Just a small comment on an otherwise excellent stay.

We arrived late, around 9 pm, but were swiftly helped with check-in. The hotel also has a restaurant: we could have a very good dinner at 9:30 p.m. The hotel is well located, in the center of the village, and right at the border of the beautiful mountains. Great location for an active hiking or biking vacation.

Bit of external white noise from neighbouring building but did not disturb my sleep as double glazed windows and shutters

Friendly staff, spotlessly clean, exceptional value for money and great to have restaurant ‘El Recó de l'Avi’ attached. Loved the traditional Caitlan Pa amb tomaquet with charcuterie and cheese for breakfast. Lots of information available on local walks/rides. This place is an absolute gem !

The half board is a must because there did not appear to be any other restaurants in the town which were open in the evening. Although the wine was included we had to pay extra for coffee.

We liked the hotel and took the half board option. The food choice was good and included a carafe of wine. It suited us as an overnight stop on the route we had planned through the Spanish Pyrenees.

The major problem was the lack of any food offering at 8.00pm in the hotel..and in the entire town! In the Booking.com listing, without qualification, it clearly states "Hotel Casa Duaner's restaurant serves daily set menus on weekdays and an à la carte menu on weekends." The restaurant was closed. OK, I was not that upset, and even after 8 hours driving through France, I was happy to walk out ten minutes in any direction to find a cafe-bar for the most basic of meals. I walked in every direction (despite a mobility problem) and one hour later returned to the hotel...starving hungry. Not a single basic bar was open on a Wed. evening in this most inhospitable small (ghost) towns. I do not recommend a visit to Guardiola, there are better places close-by. Indeed, if the hotel owner had given me the courtesy to inform me at 6pm when I checked in that I would not find even a basic meal in the town, I would have driven a few more kms to find one. That was the first of two problems. I am in the hospitality business and when I ran a country guest house where sometimes (on a Sunday evening, for example) there were no other bars/hotels/restaurants in the vicinity offering food, I always had a small basic menu to provide arriving guests with a meal. That is what hotels do. Here they have a restaurant, so a small basic offering would have been straight-forward. But not only did I have to ask if there was any chance of a meal when I returned to the hotel, but was told that this is a small town and people have to work in the mornings! Please, I have lived in Catalunya for 22 years and this is the first time that I have never been able to find something to eat at 8.00pm in a small town. Come on Hotel Casa Duaner, I cannot imagine in your long heritage that travellers in the past were denied a meal on arrival.

I have no complaints about the standard of the accommodation, nor about the friendliness of the staff. I liked the feel of the establishment. It felt like a hotel that had been in operation for many years, even generations, yet it looked fresh and well presented. The breakfast, taken in the setting of a very very old basement restaurant, was very much appreciated.
