How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewStunning grounds, plenty of green for dogs to run, lovely vegetable garden, secure covered parking, and kind, professional staff.
The dog fee was €20, plus another €20 “upgrade” charge for the room because of the dog. €40 in total, yet no pet amenities—no bowl, no blanket, nothing. Just an invoice. Interiors that miss “rustic charm” and land squarely in “hasn’t been updated since forever.” Out front, a moth graveyard—thick spiderweb curtains full of dead moths—sets the tone. Inside, the A/C didn’t work… which we later learned was because it doubled as a bat entrance. At 1am., a bat crawled out of the vent and took ownership of the room, enthusiastically pooping as it flew. Calls to reception went unanswered, so we staged our own wildlife rescue—blocking vents with towels, reopening them when the bat insisted, and coaxing it toward the window. By 5 a.m., the bat was finally out, our sleep was gone, and breakfast was a distant dream. Now, we don’t think it’s unreasonable to occasionally encounter wildlife in a remote setting. What was unreasonable was management’s response: in one breath telling us it was “as normal as a mosquito,” and in the next insisting this had never happened before. Instead of a proper apology and refund, I had to argue just to get a 23% discount. After paying €200+ to share a sleepless night with a bat, that attitude was the real deal-breaker. In short: a gorgeous location with kind staff, but outdated rooms, bad maintenance, and management so dismissive it made the bat seem like the polite one.

Verified reviewThe location was awesome!
The staff… they’re still newbies and you need to ask and request everything a lot of time (simple request as a coffee or a Coca-Cola)

Verified reviewLocation, set up of the hotel. Breakfast. Hikes you could do just starting at the hotel.
Management could be better, instead of sitting on a computer. Go around your personel, put a bar next to the pool, serve some drinks. The Restaurant we expected it to be better, after reading all the good reviews. Children will be children.. otherwise you have to profile yourself as a adultonly hotel.

Verified reviewWe truly had the most amazing experience at Can Boix. Words can’t describe the beauty of the place, the scenic nature, the sweetest staff, the delicious meals and the top notch service! The restaurant is 10 out of 10, with nutritious breakfast and very versatile a la carte menu for lunches and dinners. The mountains are breathtaking and the hikes there are must do! The staff will help you out with picking the best hiking trail. My friend and I enjoyed our weekend getaway and we would definitely come back for more!

Verified reviewStunning location, large rooms are comfortable albeit a little dated. Very friendly staff. Beautiful pool, immaculate grounds. Fairly dog friendly. Very clean. Easy, plentiful parking in shade.
Restaurant is far too fussy. In our opinion they take beautiful fresh ingredients and ruin them with over complex and sometimes ridiculous concoctions.

Verified reviewLocation and friendly staff, they allowed late check in
Very bad breakfast, max 2 star hotel. The room was not cleaned every day, only the sheets changed, I could tell. Staff is completely unqualified, for a 3 nights stay 400 euros and 140 euros for two dinners which were bad, a shrimp that’s 20 euros which is 20 grams and a steak that made was still moving, and the tartar, which made me vomit. The bath was dirty when I got there and when I checked in they forgot to give me the electricity card and for 30 min I didn’t know how to do it, I had to ask them.
Dear David Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We sincerely regret that your stay did not meet your expectations, and we take note of each point you mentioned, as all feedback is an opportunity for improvement. We are truly sorry that your perception of our staff was negative. We are particularly surprised by your statement that the team is “completely unqualified,” as the professionalism and friendliness of our staff are among the most valued aspects by other guests. Nevertheless, if at any point you felt that the service was lacking, we apologize. We are committed to ongoing training and motivation, and we will treat your comment as a reminder of the importance of maintaining high service standards at all times. Regarding cleanliness, breakfast, and the functionality of the facilities, we regret that they did not meet your expectations. Your feedback has been forwarded to the relevant departments for immediate review. As for the restaurant experience, we are very sorry that it was not to your liking and, even more so, that you felt unwell. We would like to investigate this further, so please feel free to contact us directly. Lastly, we apologize for the oversight of not providing you with the electricity card during check-in. It was an isolated mistake and does not reflect the standard of our usual welcome procedures. We thank you for your visit and are truly sorry that we were unable to deliver the experience you were hoping for. Should you give us another chance, we would be delighted to show you the true level of service we strive to offer. Carlos Pablos Henríquez Director Hotel Can Boix de Peramola

Verified reviewAmazing holiday! Beautiful nature! Great location, beautiful hotel terraces and views. Very thoughtful staff, they prepared a cake for my birthday with candles, card and a bottle of cava. That was a wonderful surprise. Thanks again! The food and drinks were good in the restaurant. Comfortable bed. Nice balcony with the mountains view.
On Monday breakfast was a bit of a disappointment, literally some leftovers from the breakfast a day before. The good thing is you can order eggs to be cooked for you. Also we couldn’t have lunch on Monday as we suppose to book it in advance, which we didn’t know about. So we had to go to a village close by for lunch, to the only food place was opened that day. The menu in the hotel restaurant was the same for lunch and dinner, the food is good but we ran out of options to choose from by the end of our stay.
Dear Natalya, I am very sorry to read about your experience with breakfast on Monday. Breakfast is for us a service that we take great care in offering quality and variety to our guests. It is obvious that in this case we did not achieve our goal. In particular, we work to try to offer as many local products as possible, such as the four varieties of bread, the four types of cold meats, homemade cakes made in our kitchen, cheese, yoghurt and eggs, which are laid by our hens. To this we add top quality products such as jams, pastries, organic coffee, organic herbal teas and freshly squeezed orange juice every morning. As for the impossibility of eating at the hotel that day, and given that no board was booked, the à la carte restaurant was fully booked. As for the gastronomic offer, our autumn-winter menu consists of 27 dishes to choose from, offering starters, rice dishes, vegetarian options, meat, fish and desserts. In addition, you can book before your arrival at the hotel the board service or even at the hotel, from one day to the next. Our menu consists of three starters, three main courses and three desserts, which we change daily. We work tirelessly to offer our guests and clients the best dining experience from our team. We are happy to read that you enjoyed our privileged location, the comfort of the facilities and the quality of the food and drinks that we select and prepare for our guests with the utmost dedication and care. The gastronomic experience, I insist, is one of our greatest concerns. And of course we were delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate your birthday with us and we are delighted that you felt the kindness and dedication of our team. It is very motivating for us when we get to pass on our passion for our guests. We look forward to welcoming you back very soon. Until then, the whole Can Boix de Peramola team sends you a big hug, Carlos Pablos Henríquez Director Hotel Can Boix de Peramola

Verified reviewGood breakfast selection; eggs and bacon promptly cooked to prefer on the weekday we were there.
Dinner menu is (in my humble opinion) too complex. Oliana between Christmas 2024 and New Year’s Eve 2024 had as far as we could see NO options for dinner. The hotel could simplify the menu to less complex and less expensive after to, I think, its advantage. A hearty soup, rather than marinaded partridge salad (delicious as it was); grilled meat and fish would have been more welcome (without prejudice to the chef’s skills).

Nothing. The spa option on the bath was not working which we reported. Not really a problem for us.

Verified reviewThe location is beautiful and the staff very helpful.
The hotel used to be family owned, since it has been taken over it has got a little more expensive and the breakfast is not as good as it once was! Also a sign said the swimming pool is only open July and August which was disappointing as the weather was very nice and we would have loved to use it!

Verified reviewThe hotel is surrounded by hills and beautiful scenery. Lots of walks right at the back of the hotel. We went to the restaurant at the hotel for dinner and was the best meal of our whole holiday! Highly recommend.
Unfortunately, the pool was closed during our stay due to being out of season.

Dogs are not allowed in the only eating facility in the property (not even outside seating). The hotel style is really tired, everything is old and outdated. Our room smelled like cigarettes, really badly even though it should be non smoking room No sound isolation, heard every little noise from the rooms above. The check out opens at 8 so if you need to leave earlier (which we did) you have a problem because there is nowhere to leave they keys
Dear Neringa, thank you for sharing your experience. Regarding the furniture in our hotel, it reflects exactly the atmosphere we intend to convey. It is by no means old. Our furniture is antique; that is exactly our intention, antique and high quality furniture. We are sorry that it did not suit your taste, although in the photos on the website you can clearly see the design of our rooms. We also apologise for the smell of tobacco in the room. Our room cleaning team takes great care to eliminate the tobacco odours that some guests may smell, without respecting the non-smoking instructions that apply to ALL the rooms in the hotel. Reception opens at 8:00 a.m., as you have indicated, and we provide this information at check-in. For those guests who wish to check out before 8:00 a.m. we give the option of checking out the night before. Finally, we would like to say how pleased we were to hear you mention the beauty of our gardens. The Hotel team works with great enthusiasm to keep them well maintained and lush, depending on the season. Please receive a warm greeting from all the team at Hotel Can Boix de Peramola.
