Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainNothing!
Charming old-style hotel to get a taste of mountain luxury at the doorstep of Andorra. Very well maintained, it’s clear that it’s managed directly by the owners, with care and attention to detail. Restaurant is good as well

Hong KongFood at the hotel restaurant is mediocre and inconsistent. While lunch time service was great and food tasted good too, same dishes at dinner time was very average and looked less appealing, also dinner time service was very very slow. I wouldn’t recommend eating at the restaurant as it’s way too overpriced for a very mediocre meal. The only plus is the gorgeous view from the terrace!
Amazing view from the room, the staff is very welcoming and friendly. Unexpected but so appreciated nightly turn down service, spacious room with comfortable bed,Spa, swimming pool and a gym was a great bonus to our trip.

United StatesI loved Hotel El Castell de Ciutat. Located on top of a hill it has great views of the city below. Lovely public rooms and a beautiful breakfast room, eating either inside or on the terrace. It also has a restaurant on site. Our room was a suite and it was spacious, bright and clean. Huge bathroom, double sinks, separate WC with bidet, walk in shower, and a bathtub with shower. The suite was big enough for a king bed and living room furniture. It also featured a large wraparound terrace with furniture. Breakfast was wonderful. All staff were friendly and helpful. They had a large room within the hotel to securely park our bicycles. This was a great stay.

ChileThe reception was pretty good, the lady was very friendly and helpful. The room was good, detail the door was open but we didn’t mind, the room was inspected and ok. Because of the occ of the hotel we were unable to have dinner at the restaurant which was sad because room service was until 22:30 but the spa, the gym and breakfast was good.

SpainWe used the outdoor jacuzzi in the evenings, and the water temperature felt a little cool.
Spotless room, relaxing spa, cozy vibes, comfy bed and pillows, and just 10 minutes drive from Andorra. We originally booked for two nights, but our stay was so enjoyable that we happily extended our time here. It is a dog-friendly hotel.

United KingdomWifi is not strong. Location is a little way out of time along a busy road and I saw no taxis in town. In theory there is an Alsabus stop outside the hotel but the receptionist and the cleaner she asked were not aware of it, and when I later took a bus that wen past the hotel it showed no sign of stopping. I had a kettle in my room, with plenty of tea and coffee all of which is good, but nowhere to plug it in save by setting it on the floor: the lead would not reach to desk, table or cupboard. Similarly I had to unplug the room phone to plug my phone in next to the bed. Plentiful lighting but the inside of the wardrobe is pretty dark. Balcony is not private you can see the people on the balcony next door when you stand at your window. I was not convinced the person who had designed the room had stayed in it. I should have liked an iron in my room. Coffee at breakfast appears to have been produced by one slow machine, which staff were tied up tending to. That meant a long wait for coffee. It would have been good to have some filter coffee or a machine guests could use themselves. Ony house wines by the glass at dinner, no choice.
I received a warm welcome, despite arriving somewhat the worse for wear having walked with my heavy rucksack u the hill from the town because there were no taxis. Staff are friendly and hospitable, the hotel is at its best when they are most relaxed. The room was spacious and comfortable with beautiful views access the valley. It is set in wonderful place. Comfortable bed. The spa is excellent, the indoor pool is very large and very warm. A wall of windows means that it is full of light. Opening hours are from 7.30am to 10pm at night. It was a cold and rainy day and the outside jacuzzi was not hot enough to cope with volume of rain that day. The steam room was warm. I ate well from the à la carte menu at dinner: a range of different options, and vegetarians well catered for. Wide choice at breakfast.

LithuaniaThe food at the restaurant was okay, but not ideal, especially considering the price. The waitress made a couple of mistakes with our order, so a bit more attentiveness would't be amiss.
Perfect for spending a couple of nights with your beloved. It has an ideal location; the hotel overlooks the mountains and the city of La Seu. The views are stunning! Very friendly staff, ready to help with anything. They helped me with planning a hiking route, providing several options with valuable descriptions so I could make a good choice. By the way, I recommend going to El Prat de Cadí for lightweight hiking; the views are stunning, and it's about 40 minutes away from the hotel. Also, they have nice spa services. I especially enjoyed the outdoor jacuzzi with an amazing view of the mountains.

SpainHaving said old designs, the hotel needs refurbishment asap… The breakfast was quite limited but okay! The dinner was nice but a pricey..
We like old designs so it was “cute” in that sense.. The bathroom is quite nice and comes with many towels, robes, shampoos etc that sometimes lack in new hotels. The view of the mountains and the countyside is very nice!!

United StatesThe hotel has recently reopened after a remodeling, and some work was still ongoing during our stay. As a result the jacuzzi was not available (though the sauna and steam room made up for it).
My husband and I spent 3 nights here in July 2024. This hotel makes a fantastic base for day hiking in the Cadi-Moixero Park and the Pyrenees, which was why we chose it. We really appreciated being able to relax in the pool / sauna / steam room after a long day on our feet. We followed this with drinks on the terrace, and then dinner soaking in the amazing view from the restaurant. Dinner was delicious, and the kitchen did a great job of catering for some strange dietary restrictions. Breakfast was ample and of a very high quality. Above all, the service was exceptional. We were welcomed with a glass of cava on the terrace, which was a lovely way to start our visit. All staff members we encountered were friendly and attentive, and especially helpful in recommending hiking routes and excursions. We also really appreciated being able to borrow hiking poles, since flying with hiking poles is a bit tricky. We hope to be back soon!

AndorraEl Castel is a lovely traditional hotel in the sense that the decor hasn´t been changed to the more modern stark minimalistic style that so many hotels have today. The room was spacious, comfortable and had a wonderful balcony with a view of Seu and the Cadi. I had a wonderful facial and pedicure in the spa. All the staff were professional and friendly. The welcome was extremely kind. Since we ate both and excellent lunch and dinner there, if I could make one suggestion, it would be that dinner on the terrace also offer something fairly light, like a club sandwich or Caesar salad.
