Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe advice about the security arrangements was carefully given, but it did worry me that if I stayed out after 10pm, I might not have been able to open the main door and enter. This was my inadequacy, but it did stop me staying out beyond 10 pm.
I like the hotel ambiance - regardless of its wonderful position on theAlhambra hill, it is an interesting, almost homely place - rather un hotel like.

United StatesNo elevator; not a lot of eateries to choose from since it’s away central Granada; front desk available from 9am-11 pm
The hotel is a pretty, quaint-looking one within the Alhambra grounds. I had a very nice small balcony (seen in the picture). After a long Alhambra tour, I just walked right back to the hotel (2-3 min walk)!

United KingdomFor the price paid for two nights - Nothing.
Superb location. There are only two hotels in the Alhambra complex, this being one and for the location is exceptional value for money. The room was quite small but OK. The shower was excellent. The breakfast was OK however one can use the dining, breakfast and terrace facilities at the other hotel - A Paradores - that is located very close by.

United KingdomIt’s a shame there isn’t some kind of evening food service, but the location trumps this shortcoming.
The location of Hotel América could not be bettered. Perfect for visiting all parts of the Alhambra, and for taking a break between parts of your visit.

NetherlandsSmall bed first night , the stress about the rental car parked so far away and difficult to get there . Maybe a point to help guests to send them more info upfront about how to get at the hotel and how it works with the parking tickets they have a nice discount .
Location great on the Alhambra site . To get there with the rental car very stressful . You have to look for the wooden little house ( Klein houten huisje en daar rechts door de slagboom ) And go through the gate there . Very Andalusian style hotel we loved it . First night was rough because the bed was way to small for us Dutch people . We took an upgrade to another room and the bed was a bit bigger so better for us . The staff was very helpful if you ask them questions . Luxery hotel. Very quit at night and super nice atmosphere.

United KingdomUnless you are opting for buses/taxis, it's quite a steep and lengthy hike from both the nearest car park (we parked at lot 4 of Parkia Alhambra) and also the city centre / cathedral / eateries etc. So if you are not focused on the Alhambra / Generalife, then other locations may be easier. But nevertheless, I would still recommend this small and sweet hotel for a pleasant and unique experience. The only slight negative on this visit is that we returned from the city centre about 11pm on our last night, and could not get the keypad to open to the external door. We were locked out and feared having to sleep in the open air... but after a few minutes of pressing the buzzer, the intercom finally came to life and we were given entry. Phew!
If your main reason for visiting Granada is to see the Alhambra/Generalife (for which reservations are required several weeks in advance), then this is an ideal location for a base. It also means you can easily walk around the area's public spaces after dark, when it is quiet and atmospheric. As for the hotel itself, we had walked past it several times in previous years and this year we decided to stay (4 nights in the room with a balcony): we are glad we did. It is quirky, charming and cosy. I was generally quiet and peaceful when we were there (though obviously this will depend on who the other guests are, especially if you have the balcony room which is above the internal courtyard where meals / drinks are served during the day). We received a very warm welcome from the nice lady on the desk when we arrived, and the staff were generally lovely and helpful throughout the visit. And it was nice to be able to buy a light breakfast on the mornings that we were feeling too lazy to go into town. We would happily stay here again.... in fact, we are planning to!

SpainIt's a unique place and well worth the aspects you have to consider: It's a bit isolated. you have to walk up and down the hill or take the bus or taxi to get anywhere in the city. Only one restaurant near by, "Jardines Alberto." A bit pricey but good. TIP: Take bus C32 all the way to Plaza St. Nicolas!
UNIQUE LOCATION! Right inside the Alhambra. Very friendly staff. Quaint interior. Clean and quiet.

United KingdomClose to the Alhambra, it is located away from the main area of restaurants but there is a reliable and frequent bus that stops fairly nearby which takes about 10 minutes to get to the centre of town.
Traditional and characteristic property with modern conveniences close to the Alhambra. It was great to wander around at night without the crowds and see the buildings illuminated. There was a lovely central courtyard complete with lush plants and ceramics where you could sit and eat. The staff were really helpful, lending us an umbrella, letting us leave our suitcases and calling for a taxi to the station.

United StatesThe airconditioner did not work. It was cooler outside than inside. We opened the window but it openned to the patio where the restaurant is, so we had noise coming in. However, sleep was O.K. at nigth for they do not serve dinner.
That it was at the Alhambra. So it was great especifically for the days we had tickets to The Alhambra tours. The bus system to and from Albaicin and downtown passes every 7 minutes (c32, C30) Rhe bus ro Sacromonte can be taken in downtown (C31) Everything is within a 15 minute bus ride.

United StatesJust be ready for carrying bags up narrow steps if you can't get the ground floor rooms as there is no elevator. Also if coming by rental car, be prepared for the 10 walk to and from the 24 hour parking lots. While you can drive your luggage to the door, you are not able to park there. One wonders if they could not make a deal with the bigger hotel next door that does have a parking area.
The Location inside the Alhambra wall is fantastic. The hotel iteself is absolutly charming with its old-world vibe, inner courtyard, and 18th centurty decor. The staff were excellent and attentive despite been very short handed and busy trying to balance everybodies needs. When we realized that they did not have an elevator, we were able to upgrade to the only ground level family suite for surprising small extra amount. We were also able to drive our luggage to the door, although one does have to take it back out to the main parking areas some 10 minutes walk away.
