Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe booked a room with four beds on this site because there were no other rooms available in Sotres for our dates. When we arrived, we found the hostel to be quite empty. I personally think we should have been charged for two beds, since it was just the two of us and clearly the hostel wasn't going to be overrun anytime soon. Oh well! We found the very simple breakfast of coffee and toast to be a little overpriced, at 6 euro per person.
This was our first European hostel experience and it exceeded our expectations. Low on amenities, for sure, but very clean, great location, and kind owner.

BrazilIt was cold during the night, even with extra blankets.
Huge dorm, with 32~40 beds and two bathrooms, so expect to wait a bit during high seasons. I was there during spring so it was quite empty (not complaining). Good for the price. One of the cheapest options if you are doing Ruta Del Cares or trail to Bulnes, but you have have a car, because it's a 20 minute drive to trailhead.

ItalyNothing to complain about...maybe only the breakfast is a bit basic, but still good enough to start the day and for the price of the stay. Arriving by car is also possible but the parking space is not very big.
It was a really nice stay at Albergue Peña Castil, the staff was very kind and available, the spaces were clean and the atmosphere very quite! When you are looking for an easy going accommodation, this is definitely a good choice.

United KingdomThe price per person was higher than a hotel for us. It makes no sense to charge 30€/person on a mountain refuge where you have to pay an additional fee for bed linen and towels. It was very cold at night because its meant for sleeping bags, but at the price point I didnt expect it to be this kind of place... It was also closed most of the day so we had to modify our plans to fit the checkin time at 7pm.
The location is superb. The building is a classic stone and wood house and you're at the edge of the village.

FranceOn the pictures, you can think that the dormitory is for 4 persons, whereas you have a box of 4 beds in a middle of a big dormitory only separate by curtains. Beds are not very comfortable.

United StatesWe were only 2 but had to pay for a room with 4 bunks. Although we paid for a private bathroom, we had to pay extra for towels. There were no windows in the room, just a skylight so the room was dark. No furniture other than beds in the room. Limited kitchen facilities. Poor value
location. outdoor seating.

United StatesNothing. 10/10
Hosts were so kind, town is in such a cool location and has so much to offer to experience the Picos. Breakfast was wonderful and the overall experience was amazing. (do be aware that Sotres is a 30 minute drive from the start of many trail heads)

United KingdomThere was a rule in place for silence after 11pm, but this wasn't enforced or encouraged, and on multiple occasions wasn't even observed by the host, so you can expect noise to at least midnight if not even later. The breakfast was pricey for what amounted to some toast, packaged spreads and a drink. When we were paying on arrival, we spotted an error in their calculations that would have had us paying €100 more than we should have, so be vigilant when paying! We were in a private room, but noticed that the dorm rooms are all on one corridor and only separated by curtains, so in essence there is just one massive dorm.
Very well situated with beautiful views, and the calming sounds of cow bells. Excellent internet connection, especially for such a remote place. Great shower facilities, which are a big plus especially after long mountain days! We were able to park there even though there is technically no parking, but be warned if it's busy there's only space for two or three cars.

United StatesThere were three of us. We booked here because the description of the room said 2 bunk beds and 1 single bed. That meant no one would have to climb to a top bunk. There is no room like this available at this place and there were no other beds available that night. Ended up having to split up and someone go to a different hotel with additional cost.
