Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomEverything was really good but just to say watch for the similar name to sister hotel El Gezira Garden Hotel, the key difference having garden in their name. It was confusing and I made a mistake with the booking but it turned out to be a blessing and I'm happy I made it. One morning they didn't have any milk for my free breakfast coffee but you can buy some milk at the shop round the corner if you need to. I didn't bother.
Very helpful staff. Generously allowed us to enjoy their sister hotel El Gezira Garden Hotel a few blocks walk away, to eat and drink there as well and use their pool for free. We took turns each evening at their restaurants and both have great chefs and food. It was very quiet like a private pool on most days when we came except the last day just a few more people in July 2025. El Gezira Hotel exceeded our expectations. I enjoyed talking to everyone there. They speak English very well. They helped us find a driver to take us to Valley of the Kings and other places called Sayad who was excellent. I'll miss them all. Thanks guys. God bless you.

United StatesThis spot is a real gem. First, please consider staying on West Bank if you want to avoid the circus on the East Side. One advantage is that you can head straight to Valley of the Kings first thing in the morning and possibly be the only visitor in the first couple of tombs you visit. Absolutely worth an early wake up call. The hotel is simple and cozy, clean with hot showers. I loved my balcony and the rooftop restaurant (great Egyptian food). I slept soundly each night. It is very close to the public ferry or motor boats to get across the river. Above all, the staff here are just excellent. I stayed for only four nights and got to know all of them by name. They treated me like family when I was in the hotel. They also helped me navigate luxor with taxis and arrange a tour further afield to Abydos and Dendera. Shokran to the staff who took the time to answer my questions about modern Egyptian life in the evenings after taking in the ancient remnants in the daytime. I give the highest recommendation to El Gezira Hotel.

This hotel has a sign outside that reads " you arrive as a guest and you leave as a friend". Couldn't be more true. These wonderful people could not do enough for us. It was a real home from home. I will certainly be back.

BrazilWhen you search on the internet for El Gezira Hotel, it shows the El Gezira Garden Hotel; they are from the same owner but not the same place. This can create some confusion. The hotel is on the West Bank, which is quite nice because it is quieter on this side of the city. However, tourists can get more uncomfortable walking alone in the West Bank at night. There are not many tourists on the street, so the locals will notice you, and harassment will happen a lot. However, I don't know if the East side is better, as it is much more crowded. Another thing that I didn't like in the West Bank is that the restaurant options are more limited compared to the East Bank. About the hotel, I didn't like the bathroom in my room. I think there was not much space in the shower, but besides this, everything was perfect in the hotel. Another tip not related to the hotel, but if you want to do tour guides in Luxor, be aware of the scams. Most of the tours try to include a souvenir shop in the middle of the tour, and you end up wasting more time in the souvenir shop than in the primary activities (e.g., temples, the valley of the Kings)
When I arrived at the hotel, I was exhausted because I had to deal with taxi drivers trying to scam me at the airport, and the receptionist was very kind to me and helped me to relax. It was the first and maybe only person I felt I could trust in Luxor. Don't get me wrong, Luxor is a lovely city, but I wasn't expecting that much harassment because I had flown from Cairo, and my experience there was way much better. The only place I felt safe in Luxor was inside the hotel, where I could trust people. I was traveling alone, so going out alone was difficult because many men approached me for small talk that I didn't want to have, and they didn't accept a no as an answer. Besides that, the El Gezira Hotel is excellent. The rooms are very comfortable, and the hotel has a restaurant.

Extremely helpful and friendly staffs from the front desk to the restaurant staffs, the hotel manager (Mr Rejab) & hotel owner (Mr Jamal). Nice rooftop restaurant with the glimpse of the Nile. Sound of birds, chicken, cow and donkey makes the stay close to nature. Staffs were very accommodating to all our request. Worth the stay :)

United KingdomAlthough it didn’t detract from our stay, some of the fixtures and fittings could do with an update - eg plugs loose in the wall. The WiFi also was patchy in our room but worked well on the rooftop.
A lovely stay - we even ended up adding an extra night! Ragab was an excellent host, sorting all we needed for our stay in Luxor at competitive prices and with great service (all our drivers were great!). Big breakfasts (and big packed lunches!), spacious room with balcony, and an enviable location on the pretty West Bank near to all the relevant restaurants. Would definitely stay again. Thank you!

PhilippinesI know it's Egypt and there is sand everywhere, but the rooms can use a bit more thorough cleaning - there were feathers (not 1 but 3?) in our room because there are birds nesting near the Aircon... bathroom had some stains, bed sheets had some stains. Other than that, okay.
Located in the much quieter side of Luxor's Nile, this is perfect for those visitors who do not want to deal with the hassle of Luxor's East Bank but still want convenient access to major tourist sites. The place comes with a well-maintained garden, a roofdeck, excellent bathrooms with great showers, a small balcony, and Wifi that works great in the main areas, not perfect in the rooms we stayed in. The breakfast was delicious but nothing extraordinary - some of the other comments are overselling it a bit in my opinion.

NetherlandsHad a great time at El Gezirah on the west side of Luxor. The accommodation is well cared for by Egyptian standards and met all my expectations. There is a nice terrace on the roof where you can have a quiet breakfast and good food, so it's a great hotel without a lot of fuss. Of the entire team, Ragab is the one who knows the most, without being pushy he has been able to help me several times. I will definitely return here next time. I can recommend it to everyone
