How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewVery good hotel for the category of 4 stars in Egypt. Most other 4 stars hotels are not the same. In spite of old building in tiny street but hotel room has all new amenities to the standard. Staff are so cooperative the fat man in reception and the young lady in kitchen. Good internet and air conditioning and fridge and heater in bathroom.
Sure the old building and no lift. Also the telephone net is so weak but this is because of crowded downtown area in Alexandria.

Verified reviewThe staff were very helpful in bringing our bags to our rooms and getting us a taxi in the early morning.
The breakfast was very simple, bare-bones: bread, eggs and instant coffee. Despite them asking us what time we would like to have breakfast, the eggs were cold because they had cooked them half an hour too early! The ceiling of the rooms was too low for comfort. I suspect they made two floors in the old building where there used to only be one.

Verified reviewI liked the location, it was very close to the beach (only 3 min walking). Every thing was clean and the breakfast was good. Mr. Ashraf is a helpful descent man who responds to our all requests. They allowed us to keep our luggage for hours after checkout. We felt safe and comfort. It is a highly recommended place.
thank you so much and i hope see you again with best regards Mr.Moustafa

Verified reviewPeople were kind because they wanted a tip as everyone else in this Country, but that's not enough, not even fair for the amount of money you're paying here, almost 40 dollars per night in an old and worn out hotel. And the location was in the center, far of the Alexandria Library or museums, you have to pay a taxi.
We did the reservation for 2 nights due to the original reservation in a different hotel was cancelled, when we arrived the room was not clean at all, it had hairs and dirty bed sheets. The air condition was not working, and the temperature was more than 40 Celsius. There was not towels, paper, soap or basic cleaning items. The chair was broken and all the items in the room looked dirty and damaged. We talked about it to the receptionist, he said the air conditioner was broken and we would be changed of room the next day, however it's not worthy at all for the price of almost 40 dollars the night in a country like Egypt where only garbage and misery abound, PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME, HEALTH AND MONEY HERE. We had a lot of luggage and we were tired or we would definitely have left as the first sight, not only of the hotel but the country.

Verified reviewThis is a family run hotel with wonderful staff who looked after me very well. The rooms are a generous size particularly as I was on my own. The hotel is situated in the old part of the city. It is easy to get around - I walked everywhere. This really is a glorious ruin of a city. Fab architecture that is literally crumbling. And very inexpensive compared to Western prices. As a Westerner you need to be prepared for a very different experience. There is a simple breakfast each morning and hot tea was offered whenever I came in from my walks. Aircon was available in the room.and the bed was comfortable. There is no top sheet provided but a rug was on the bed for overnight drop in temperatures. The bathroom was quite adequate with plenty of hot and cold water. Bottled water and toilet paper was provided although I took tissues and wet wipes. Everything is available at local Carrefour Supermarket. My grateful thanks to all staff, day and night who were so friendly and caring. And especially my driver who did a return trip to the airport to return my phone!!
I have no complaints. You have to be prepared for a visual assault walking around the city. Unfortunately, the streets are filled with much rubbish mostly plastic bags and containers and that extends into the beautiful Mediterranean Sea. However the people are gorgeous and welcoming. The new Alexandria Library is extraordinary. It really is like stepping back in time.

Verified reviewThe room was very clean and we got a good breakfast.
Unfortunately Wifi didn't work during our stay. The bathroom smelled rather musty, probably a problem with the drain.

Verified reviewCheck in was the most laborious, tedious experience I've ever had at a hotel. They wanted to make multiple photocopies of multiple pages of everyone's passport. There were no towels and no sheet on the bed. Bathroom was falling apart. Bugs. Extremely loud talking from the staff throughout the night at all hours. Lots of problems paying because they refused to accept certain bills. Difficult, unpleasant stay. Felt unwelcome.
