The staff at Golden Rest were very kind and helpful. We stayed here the night before taking off on the Quilotoa Loop. They took care to answer our questions and provide guidance for our trek. They were also kind enough to store our unneeded luggage while we were on our adventure.

The room was quite small and felt dated, with an old box-style TV. The shower was cramped, more like a narrow cupboard, and oddly separated from the sink and toilet. The breakfast area felt cold.

The hotel is a short and inexpensive taxi ride from the bus station, and the surrounding area has plenty of shops and restaurants. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The mattress and bedding were decent, and we were given a small heater, which was appreciated as it was quite cold. Breakfast was nice.

A little difficult to find because it's tucked around a corner on a one-way street and the entrance is through the restaurant. Credit cards are not accepted. Cash or pay by phone using Zelle app. No Wi-Fi in the rooms. The rooms are in the building next to the restaurant & lobby, separated by an open air courtyard. At night, it is too dark to see the steps, so have your phone flashlight handy. No elevator. Dark stairway. No door to the toilet/shower, so you have to close the door between the sink and the bedroom. It seemed pointless to have a separate, huge room for just the sink.

Great budget stopover on the way to Lake Quilatoa. 4 min walk to the historic center/ Parque Vicente León. Free, simple breakfast of juice, coffee, fresh fruit, plain scrambled eggs, and bread and cheese. Large window with blackout curtains faced the outdoor hallway. Large, clean room with 2 beds. Simple, but comfortable. Good water pressure in shower. Quiet street, quiet guests. Restaurant, bar, and lobby lounge/recreation area with ping pong and pool tables. Free parking in the garage down the street.

The best value of money during this trip. I reserved a bed, but instead they gave me a private room. It's small and in the basement, but for the price I paid it's definitely worth it. Free coffee and snacks anytime of the day. Nice warm shower. The staffs are extremely kind and helpful.

Convenient place in the old town for a stopover in Latacunga. They kept our luggage while we hiked the Quilotoa loop for a few days.

An absolutely stunning old historical building with great views from the roof. This is a proper hotel, rather than a hostel (their hostel-hostel is in the basement), so no real kitchen access, but the staff is lovely and the accomodations are super clean and comfy. I was in the 6-bed dorm (this is the only dorm which is in the upstairs hotel portion rather than in the hostel area), and it was great.

Food wasn't that great. Breakfast a bit bland and luke warm coffee which we got re heated.on a couple of occasions. We went for half board. I wouldn't recommend that option

Colonial style hotel that you would never believe from the outside. Very impressive building. We had a lovely room (it was not standard) with a huge bed. It was quiet and we slept well. The locks we're fiddly but were all changed in all the rooms while we were there.

The room according to the description on Booking.com should be 35m, but in reality it was 15m. Overall, the room gives a gloomy impression. The room is dark, because the windows face the courtyard. There was no electricity for most of the stay, so it was dark after dark. I did not feel like having breakfast and left the hotel as early as possible in the morning.
