This hotel generally lives up to the positive reviews. Central location, friendly and helpful staff, historic character and charm. The rooftop offers memorable and moving panoramic views of the city.

Just two general words to the wise concerning the hotel: 1.If you arrive after 8 PM at night, Old Town feels more like Ghost Down. Do not despair, when the sun rises, so does the neighborhood. For night life, make a b-line for La Ronda. It's around a 5-10 minute walk away. 2. Entering and exiting hotels in Ecuador is hit and miss. You need to rely on staff being at the desk to let you in and out. I am guessing this is for your security. Press the orange button on your right for access. Though a little anxiety provoking at first, once you get used to it, it's no biggie. They are usually there within minutes. A more general word to the wise. Beware of pickpockets. The massive police presence provides a false sense of security.

Great location in historic centre. Historic building with great character. It is a pension style hotel. Great for its price

Breakfast was comparable to all breakfasts in Ecuador. Historical building in great location. Friendly & helpful staff. Stored luggage for us whilst visiting Galapagos. Great town with lots of history. Roof top viewing platform

Bed was very firm, but plenty of uphill walking in old city helped us sleep well

It was super close to the historical central of the town, the metro and restaurants! The staff were super friendly and helpful especially as we arrived just after 4 in the morning. Check in was easy!

Breakfast was quite sparse, only eggs and a roll, with a slice of ham and cheese available as well as a tea, coffee or juice.

Great location. Lovely central patio. Nice rooftop.

There was no water for drinking. We also requested a tea at night, and there was none available.

Location was superb, 5 minutes walk main square and lots of places to eat, chocolate tastings and historic buildings. Also a very short walk to the Metro. Staff are very sweet and helpful. Building is authentic and the roof terrace was a nice bonus.

The breakfast was a little basic and could use more variety & offer more options , having said that it was adequate to start the day.

The location of hotel was very convenient. From our room we walked all over old town. The staff were also very kind. The courtyard was lovely and we enjoyed the greenery.

There were others in the hotel who equally enjoyed the courtyard in the center of the hotel and it made for a loud evening as we tried to fall asleep.

Staff were very helpful although my lack of Spanish meant that a couple of things were mixed up but the staff were quick to help when we realised. Close to historic centre, supermarket and atm, I was glad because I did feel uneasy walking around on my own. I also booked two, one day tours through the hotel, this seems to be common practice.

No heating in the room, I asked for an extra blanket and was accommodated but if you are someone who really feels the cold badly this could make for an uncomfortable stay. It would also be great to have kettle to warm up at end of day.

Interesting, well-decorated and attractive hotel in a historical property. Astonishing number of houseplants. Excellent staff.

Due to the adjacent street traffic, it is noisy. Earplugs suggested. Wi-Fi in concept, but absolutely useless.

Very well situated in the Old City of Quito. Staff were very helpful. Storage facilities available for leaving luggage if heading off to the rainforest.

The breakfast was quite minimal and the same each day. Some variety would have been nice

The location (though not really comfortable for pickups and drop-offs). Staff were nice enough (though they failed to make up my room once, and they should’ve given me a free upgrade considering that the hotel was empty!!!)

OMG i don’t know where to start. - tiny rooms with no windows, giving that ‘prison’ vibe (had to pay for a “suite” to have some natural light and air) - awful wifi connection (had to use my data all the time) - ridiculously poor breakfast — NOT a regular buffet like every other hotel (each morning was given a tiny bowl of fruit and some bread with marmalade, without any further requests even contemplated .. where am i, at school ? In prison ?) - no elevator, which clearly makes it very difficult to get to and from your room carrying heavy luggage or even any luggage - no water provided, no coffee machine, no kettle (just an old microwave and a fridge, but again, this was in a suite) - no shower gel provided (just two mini shampoo bottles) .. i mean, why ?!? - rooms in a terrible, terrible, dreadful state (rusty, disgusting appliances esp. the shower head, awful smell, poorly cleaned surfaces etc) — and i was in a suite!!! I mean I get it that the hotel is an old colonial house so, a piece of history but, come on!! To fully function as a hotel, you must renovate it !!!!!

    historical building, helpful the staff.

the single bed room given to me was small, almost a discriminatory gesture when in fact they earned some money from me for staying for 6 nights. the towels are old. wi-fi is weak inside the room.

The hotel is in a great location in the Historic centre. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good and the room was clean, comfortble and plenty of hot water. The only downside to my room was it was quite dark as there was no window only a sky light. They could also provide coffee making facilities in the room as you are not able to purchase a drink in the hotel.
