Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

EcuadorIn the bathroom, the toilet seat would not stay in the upright position due to the way everything was situated. There was a very small refrigerator in the room. We stored our leftover dinners from their restaurant in it hoping to have them for the next day, unfortunately, we didn;t realize it wasn't plugged in, so we wasted some delicious food.
There was so much to like about this hotel. The staff were excellent. They were friendly and went far above the norm in their desire to make us comfortable. For example, while we were eating it was quite chilly in the dining room. (This is normal at this time of the year in Cuenca where central heating is not common). They brought my wife a blanket to use as a shawl. They also provided an electrice heater for the room. The restaurant was wonderful. The food was delicious with very large portions. The included breakfast was about as good as I've ever seen at a buffet. There were a number of hot dishes like sausages, waffles, and scrambled eggs. Lots of tropical fruits, breads, cereals, cheeses, cold cuts, and more. The coffee was rich and flavorful.. And, it was all served on a rooftop level with a view of the city. The view was not the most beautiful, since much of it was of other buildings, but you can still see the mountains in several directions. The shower in the bathroom was huge. It had both a "rainwater" shower head and a handheld shower head. All of this was only about $60 including the breakfast. A real bargain winin an historic building with lots of antiques.

United StatesStaying at Hotel Boutique Los Balcones felt very historical, with antiques and grand décor throughout the hotel. The lobby was absolutely gorgeous. I didn’t see any elevators, so if you have trouble walking up the stairs, make sure to request a room on a lower floor (total of 3). The room was spacious, but I wish it had a bit more of a modern touch; perhaps that’s the time period design the hotel was going for. The bathroom was renovated, though, with very nice spa-like shower stalls. WiFi worked great, where I was able to have Zoom calls without issues. The staff were overall friendly, being helpful at the front desk and the breakfast buffet. The hotel was pretty quiet as we didn’t see too many guests during our stay. Location-wise, it is about a 5-7 min walk to Calderón Park. Totally walkable, but do budget some extra time as the sidewalks are often crowded with tourists.

United StatesNothing to note
The hotel was stylish with multiple levels and a swath of old European furniture/fixtures. My room felt secure, and had a balcony looking out on a very busy street. I didn’t use the balcony bc of this reason, but the hotel provided three sets of doors ensuring that the room was silent at nighttime despite the flow of cars. The staff were friendly, and breakfast every morning on the terrace was pleasant (buffet-style). Wifi was pretty good, but I was on the second level, and I wouldn’t always have consistent signal in my room.

BelgiumWe had a room in the modern part. Charmless and almost with no daylight. You should insist for a room in the colonial building, they are much nicer.
The main building is a very beautiful colonial building. The staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet is ok, not special. located next to the main plaza.

EcuadorI spent almost two weeks at Le Fabrique and thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. It felt more like a home than a hotel thanks to the kind hospitality of Franco and Maria. My room was beautiful and breakfast was something a little different every day and delicious. I often enjoyed a capuccino in the beautiful courtyard outside of my room. The location is very central and I felt safe walking around the area. A perfect place to stay while in Cuenca.

EcuadorPhotos are confusing in the listing. We booked a room thinking every room will look colonial style but we got a standard decorated and boring room. Breakfast could include more options for allergic/intolerant people. In that case, you can only eat fruits, tea, bread. It would be great if they offer cooked food without dairy products or meat.
Nice location. Good room size.

United Statesbreakfast was the worst. there was very little available for us. i know it was off season but please. 4 small slices of cheese and 4 small slices of ham. white bread. burnt corn tortillas. cold scrambled eggs. we left and went to eat elsewhere every day after that for 5 days. the video and pictures were NOT what you are served. shower was constantly flooding. we were told a heater would be brought up to the room but it never appeared. an IPOD charging station next to the bed? who has an IPOD any more?? balcony doors would not open, they had to come up and fix them so they would. one night we got back around 7pm and kept ringing the bell but no one buzzed us in. we buzzed for over 20 minutes and finally had to bang on the doors to get buzzed in. we booked one balcony room and one apartment with a private garden. there was no private garden. just a small patch between buildings when you exited the historical one and went into the one with apartments which is a separate building. luggage from the people next store were kept outside the door blocking the stairs. furniture and appliances in the apartment were old soiled and in poor quality. manager and cleaning lady were very nice the other two gentlemen were not. the three of us stayed 5 days and the other 5 stayed 2 days. we all had the same opinion about food quality and staff. we were so embarassed since we recommended them to stay there with us. we were supposed to have complimentary hotel transportation but were changed 10.00 for it. we took our own 2.50 cab ride back when we left.
not really. the balcony was nice but the view was a run down collapsed building across the street.
