Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing not to like - the lack of a restaurant is not a problem as there are so many around the Grand Plaza, which is only a couple of hundred well-lit metres away.
Spotlessly clean, quiet, and safe with a very kind and helpful hostess. I felt very well looked after. Location excellent for seeing old Quito.

United StatesColonial house are special as all rooms look over an inside patio. That means all windows are over the inside patio that may be a bit noisy with inside conversations or arrivals; so if you wish to take a nap during the day, it might be a bit noisy.
Location very close to main Plaza and churches. Nice breakfast with special cake.for my daughter birthday. good communication to get taxis and transportation. Access to tea during the day. Good care of us by owner who told us how to be very careful of potential tourist theft. I found the area rather safe actually . Decoration around the patio. You feel like you are in the house of a family . All the rooms are decorated according a church of the city.

United StatesThe hotel itself is great! Loved it. However we quickly learned that it’s not in the best neighborhood in historic district in Quito. Not recommended to walk around after dark

United StatesEntrance could be better lighted and signed at night. I walked past it on the weary first night though it's so obvious to spot in the daytime with its bright yellow historic facade.
Unique family-run historic hotel, charming design with traditional interior details and art that immerse you in the elegance of Old Town Quito. Convenient location, close to Plaza Grande, churches, chocolate stores, restaurants. Secure entrance and safe walking area during the day and evening with common sense precautions. Owners/staff were extraordinarily welcoming, warm, and helpful. Good breakfast (loved the strong coffee!), immaculate and classy room, beautiful art and murals in common areas. The owners made me feel so welcome like family. I highly recommend Hotel Basilica for an authentic Old Town Quito experience!

United StatesEverything was fine, it's a fantastic place
Hotel Basilica is a well run, spotlessly clean boutique hotel in the heart of Old Town Quito. Perfectly placed half way between the gorgeous basilica on the hill (short walk uphill), and the Presidential square area (short walk downhill). It is near restaurants, shopping, historic sites, many gorgeous churches, bakeries, chocolate shops and coffee shops. The location cannot be beat in my opinion. They arranged a punctual pick up at the airport for us. We got in late when restaurants were closed, so the driver kindly suggested we purchased food at the airport and offered to let us eat in the car. The rooms are lovely and spacious. Water pressure was great in the shower, toiletries and hair dryers in the rooms, and a safe large enough to fit what we wanted locked. There is a hot breakfast every morning served in the inner courtyard. They start with a fresh fruit bowl and fantastic coffee. The menu rotated, but included some type of eggs, breads or pastries, ham, cheese, etc. A perfect relaxed breakfast before heading out. The security is good. You are buzzed in and out of the hotel. This is a standard practice with many places in Quito, even coffee shops. The staff was fantastic. Very polite, the server at breakfast spoke multiple languages including perfect English. The owner used a translation app for anything she struggled to tell us. She was full of knowledge of the area, suggesting times to visit various places to avoid crowds, or to get the best lighting in the Basílica windows (early morning). There were restaurants within a block of the hotel we really enjoyed that were recommended by the owner. In summary, the hotel rooms and amenities were lovely, the staff excellent, and the location perfect.

We had our laundry done for a small fee and stored our luggage whilst we went in another trip . The room is very quiet and well appointed . I would highly recommend this hotel .
