How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Hello Ivette, thanks for your visit! Sorry if you found something not clean enough for you. All our rooms are alway checked by our staff before guest arrival to make sure everything is clean. However, if you found something not clean enough I apologize and I wish you told our receptionsit or any of our staff and we would have solved it for you immediately. Regarding your comment about there being "dog´s poop everywhere", do not you think you might be exaggerating a little too much? I mean we are a pet friendly hotel, yet we always kindly ask pet-owner guests to pick up after their dogs´ poop. Our gardeners also work everyday starting in the morning and they take care of any poop, leaves, or anything that the garden needs. So I am guessing perhaps you found one poop from one of our guest`s dog which we apologize, but saying there is dog poop everywhere seems to me very exaggerated and out of context. I mean our property has a huge garden, it occupies an area of 3700 square meters, (39826 square feet). Now you are going to say that there was poop everywhere in our property because you found one or two poops? Come on. Thanks for your visit and your review anyway, we will take it into consideration.

Verified reviewI loved staying in this place. Very relaxing in front of the beach you can hear the ocean from your bungalow. And you are only few mins away from the centre. I didn't want to leave that beautiful place. Definitely recommend.

Verified reviewThe location was exceptionally privileged for the context of Montañita. Right in front of the sea, far from the noise. The facilities were rustic, "beachy", quaint and cozy. Free parking, A/C and breakfast included for a very affordable price. The staff were always positive, welcoming and had the best attitude the whole time. It's pet friendly, so our two dachschunds had a blast running around their green lawns and clean, wide beach.
I absolutely fell in love with the place, but I can see how more conservative guests may prefer more modern installations, since all the rooms were rustic cabins, but it's a personal preference thing, the place was perfect in its own right.

The electricity for the place was cutting in and out consistently. I changed rooms to find similar problems. Many outlets didn't work. The internet is ok depending on your room location.

Verified reviewAbsolutely loved the quiet, chill vibes at this place. Comfortable beds, lovely rooms with porches from which you can sit and listen to waves at all times of the day. It's not a modern or fancy place but we've stayed here twice now and the location is amazing, the cats cuddly and the property, the best place for a relaxing day. In the weekends the beach out front is packed with tourists, but during the week you have the entire stretch all to yourself.
It's not a complaint we just really wish that a place like this had a water refill station. The amount of single use plastic in Montañita is nuts and I'd wish the great property's like this would lead the way!
