Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandWe only had hot water on one day although I suspect electrical things were turned off due to the Tsunami warning.
Sula Sula was in a great location a short walk from town, there is a mini-mart opposite, a laundrette next to that and a micro-brewery with a lovely atmosphere just down the road. We appreciated being able to use the washing line outside to dry our swimsuits. Our older children enjoyed the lounge area to get a bit of space from the younger ones and some great wifi. The owners were friendly and waited for us to be picked up before evacuating due to the Tsunami (Sula Sula is also 11m above sea level so if thats a worry for you this could be a great option!)

United StatesOur room was right on the street, and the windows are thin, so any passing noise has an impact. The AC could be a bit noisy as well. The curtains were thin. The hot water takes a solid five minutes to heat up, but I'm not sure it ever gets HOT. The bathroom door is see-through. There was a small spray bottle of soap at the sink that was annoying to use. The location is a bit out of the way, but it's a small community, so it's not a huge issue.
There were a couple of easily accessible water filter bottles on the property. The manager definitely mentioned that the water was not potable. Breakfast was decent, including juice, eggs, toast with butter and jam, yogurt and fruit. We were graciously allowed a late checkout, and a taxi was arranged for us to go to the airport.

United KingdomStaff came into our room multiple times a day tidying up our room which meant we often couldn’t find our things and felt slightly intrusive especially in the evenings.
Very clean and good location (slightly outside of town) but not too far. Breakfast was great and staff very friendly and helpful

We really enjoyed our stay at Sula Sula. The host is very kind and gave us a rundown of all the places to see on Isabela. She can also help book tours with reputable tour guides if needed. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. WiFi worked very well. The breakfasts were delicious. The shower was the best we had on the 3 islands (good water pressure and hot). A/C was great. Isabela is small, so the location is a short walk to everywhere. They also stored our luggage for us after checkout and arranged for a taxi to take us to the airport.

United KingdomThe only thing I disliked was that the room wasn’t very modern. But it was exceptionally clean and quite charming. I would absolutely stay again.
We loved our stay at this hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff, super comfortable and big bed, great shower - warm and great pressure, clean. Air con was a welcomed treat.

United StatesActually, everything was great, no complaints.
Sula Sula is in quite a central location. The family who run this hotel are incredibly nice and helpful. At check in we we given a pretty complete synopsis of everywhere to go in the town and specific places that would be helpful to know about. Their kindness cannot be overstated. The breakfasts were wonderful, fresh juice, freshly cooked eggs, very good rolls, coffee and a few other items as well. The room was roomy, comfortable and very clean. There is even a clothesline you can use to dry your wet items after a day at the beach :-)

Very friendly small hotel, great breakfast, the owners was very helpful and interesting to speak to. Our room was large and looked new with good air con. It is in a nice and quiet location but still only 5 minutes walk to restaurants and bars. Isabella is so nice, much quieter than Santa Cruz but still with lots of places to eat and drink.

The place was beautiful. Nice big, airy dining area where we were served a good breakfast every morning. Cold drinks for reasonable prices also sold there. Very good wifi. The beds were comfortable and room was spacious. Showers got hot with good pressure. A local naturalist guide with 16 years experience and his wife built and run this hostal.and you can book tours through them. We loved the people and the place and will be back!

Sula Sula is a great place to stay when on Isla Isabela. It was clean, comfortable, with a nice breakfast and quick wifi. The family who run the hotel are really lovely and couldn’t do anymore for us. We also booked the Los Tunels tour through them which was a highlight of our whole stay in the Galapagos.

BrazilThere is nothing we didn't like.
Sula Sula is a familiar hostal. It is simple, but very comfortable. Our room was very big, a lot of place to put the luggage and to hang clothes. Bed was comfortable, shower worked very good and air conditioner worked very good too. The windows have protection against mosquitos, so you can leave the windows open and get natural light. The wifi doesn't work very well in the room, but it works very good at the reception and there are a place with sofas also to use the wifi. The room was clean and the whole hostal was always clean, even though the streets in Isabela island are dirt streets. Julio and his family are super nice and welcomes you as family. Julio arranged tours for us, that were very good, kayaking and los tuneles, for a better price than other agencies. He also gave us tips where to rent the best bikes and what we shouldn't miss. He also arranged for us the boat to Santa Cruz. There is water for the guests to refill our water bottles and the breakfast had everything we needed: fruit, yogurt, eggs, tea, bread, jam. Check-in and check-out was so smooth, we got our room by the time we arrived and could stay until the time had to leave for the boat. Everybody on Isabela Island is so friendly and easygoing. We loved our stay at Sula Sula and can't wait to go back!
