Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdom- WiFi hardly worked the entire time we were there - they have a kitchen but there’s nowhere really to sit and eat your food as you’re not allowed food inside the rooms - the lighting is very poor coming down the stairs after sunset and I fell down the stairs and twisted my ankle🥲🥲🥲💀💀💀
- The room we stayed in was absolutely stunning, so beautiful and one of the nicest places we’ve stayed in so far! Right at the top. Really clean, good aircon, hot water, etc. - They have a beach bar across the road and it’s right on the beach so you can go swimming and then have a shower at the beach bar. - They have kitchen facilities and free drinking water - They have a rooftop terrace and a snooker table - At the beach bar they’ve got hammocks to chill in

United StatesI was in room number 1, which could be noisy as it’s along the street.
The location is a stone throw away from the Beach, where the bar is located and the flamingo lagoon.

This place looks a lot better than it does in the photos on the website- it's beautifully made and is much closer to the beach than they say. I had been a bit worried about the noise from the bars but these are separate from the building and very quiet. The beach is a one minute walk and very beautiful with lots of marine iguanas and pelicans. The woman on reception is very welcoming and helpful and everything is very relaxed. It was easy to book tours with her and much cheaper than online (you might not get the same day or next day booking though). It's very close to other shops and restaurants and bicycle rental.

United StatesI had a great time and would recommend this place. Great location!
I enjoyed the proximity to the beach. My room was very comfortable. The internet and hot water worked well all the time. The rooms are one block in from the beach. I would recommend enjoying a drink at bar de Beto which has excellent sea views.

NetherlandsThe hostel is located in two buildings. One is on the beach, the other is right across the street. It was no problem at all for us, because we could still go to the bar on the beach. But this wasn't clear to us before we came.
Lovely spacious room. The bar is the greatest asset of this hostel. Amazing place to end the day with a cocktail on the beach.

JapanThere was a slight space at the bottom of the front door even it’s fully closed so there were constantly 1 or 2 mosquitos in the room.
The hostel is right in front of Puerto Villamil Beach. The room was very spacious and had hangers which were very convenient to dry wet clothes/towels after swimming. The bed was made and the room was cleaned everyday, and a towel was provided as well which was a plus.

Great property. We stayed in the 2 bed apartment. Large rooms, both bedrooms were en-suite and each with aircon. Quiet and clean. The main bonus was the staff. The woman on reception was amazing. Super friendly, great English and so helpful. She explained and booked us two tours. Recommended a local bike hire and laundry service and sorted out a taxi to the port at the end of the trip. We had an issue with the mechanism in one of the toilets. We sent them a message and the mechanism had been replaced by the time we returned from our tour.

GermanyThere was no fresh water (this is the only hotel that didn't provide water to us in the whole 3 weeks of trip). In practice this means spending 15 usd per day per person just on water. So the accommodation is kinda more expensive. The bar opens only at 16h, so you can't even buy water in the hotel, and it closes at 23h (I think) and the music is a bit loud to fall asleep.
We LOVED the hostel! We had the best and most expensive room at the top of the building, a private terrace, view to the beach, sunset view, ability to get to the beach within seconds, honestly amazing. We also liked the beds, very big and comfortable (much bigger than 90% of beds we had in hostels in Ecuador).

CanadaWe hoped to not need the AC and just enjoy the sea breeze however the mosquitoes made this unbearable. The screen on the patio is in good condition, however the side of the screen door has a gap allowing the mosquitos easy access. A couple windows also don’t close completely tight but those were in the bathroom so closing the bathroom door helped.
We enjoyed a sea view room in the building right on the beach next to their bar. The beach is about 3 km long for amazing walks and swimming. We had a huge deck and a large comfortable room. Bedding was clean and comfortable. The room had a small fridge which was great for water and other beverages. Lots of room for luggage and personal items. We had hot water most of the time however had to wait a few minutes once. Water refilling station provided across the road at the other property. Owner was helpful with information.

AustriaLovely hotel, close to the beach, central and quiet. The room is beautifully decorated with attention to details. It is being cleaned daily. You can refill your water bottle for free in the kitchen, where you can prepare food. The staff is very friendly and super helpful with everything. They give great tips for tours on the island, places to visit on your own. I could rest well here and can highly recommend this beautiful stay! :-)

United KingdomRoom had a thin divider with the room next door so didn’t feel super private. There’s no real eating space so had to choose between eating in the tiny kitchen or on an open upstairs area risking being eaten by mosquitoes - not biggest issue but not ideal.
Very good location on central street, and quiet too. Comfortable room with good wifi. Decent cooking equipment, though the kitchen is quite poorly lit. The place has fairly stringent rules to maintain cleanliness and they’re pretty sensible!

Gorgeous place, full of character and rustic charm. The building actually reminded me a bit of Ibiza! The room was super comfortable, the water pressure in the shower was excellent, and the air con worked perfectly. The room was cleaned daily. As it was on the top floor, we had a nice view of the flamingo lagoon from the roof terrace. We loved drinking our coffee up there in the mornings. All the staff were wonderful and the beach bar had really good drinks and great music (bit of a classic rock vibe). We enjoyed every minute of our stay!
