How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewFor the price, this is a fantastic hostel. OK beds, OK bathroom, kind of clean, nice lady running the place. Kitchen exists, it is not much and it is not cute but you can cook.
It did feel like it was super cheap and slightly sad but hey, it was cheaper than a meal. And a meal is cheap here.

Verified reviewThe location is good, once I requested the refund for my paid second night after my not so good first night they refunded immediately.
Unfortunately my experience wasn’t great. The place is an old house rather than a hostel, it was cold inside, the bunk beds were making a lot of noise as they were metal ones, the staircase was super dangerous to climb up or down, plus very noisy as well especially during the night. The floor is terrible, every step could be heard around the whole hostel, there is no good isolation in general, whatever is happening in the shower, living room, kitchen, other rooms could be heard in the dorm room. At night it’s super annoying and even though I am not a light sleeper I could barely sleep. The door bell rings to the whole house, whoever comes back at night doesn’t have a key so needs to ring the bell, or whenever travelers who are arriving in the middle of the night expect to hear the loud ring which will for sure wake you up. Then the registration will happen and again you will hear everything. The staff didn’t even try to talk quietly in the middle of the night or in the early morning. They started preparing the breakfast at like 6am and guess what?? Expect to be awaken from the sound in the kitchen. Plus some baby was crying making it impossible to fall asleep (I guess it was the baby of the family owners). The breakfast was poor as well: bread, perhaps 1 egg omelette and coffee (no tea, no fruits, nothing more like it is on the pic). Just in general, they need to improve the facility to make it more suitable for receiving the travelers who are coming to the hostel to rest!

Verified reviewGood value for money, the accommodation and the equipment are quite basic, just for an overnight stay.
The breakfast was tasty but small. Just one bun and one spoon of scrambled eggs (!)

Verified reviewGood value, comfy beds. Walking distance to main stuff, free Revolut cash in pharmacy atm 4 blocks down the street. Free towel, breakfast, friendly staff.
Loud Saturday nite party on the street, outside. Not hostel's responsibility.

Verified reviewConfy beds, close to the historic center (walking distance), staff really friendly, hot water in the shower, small breakfast included, and a really good price, plus: i could leave my big luggage there when i went to.the Amazonas
The one room (i stayed in two different rooms) was a bit too cold in the night. But my first one was good.

Neighborhood not safe at night, little hot water pressure and curtains in the beds would be a great idea

Verified reviewThe family that owns and runs this hostel are a treasure! The breakfast is modest but still good. They are obsessive about cleaning, so the place is always perfectly spotless. It's very excellently priced, and they have a nice, large outdoor, ground-level terrace in the front with excellent rain covering even during the hardest storms. I work remotely, so I really look forward to a dedicated working area, which they have! They have a little office area in the back of the hostel with a desk, a nice background, and good lighting (for those of us that need to be on video calls).
The only thing that I would recommend, maybe, is to remove the guest board in the common area. It shows all the guests' names, when they arrive and will be departing, and exactly which room and bed they are sleeping in. Might be kind of dangerous a bit particularly for female solo travelers. Apart from that, nothing else really comes to mind. It is a nice place that seems to attract some really friendly people.

Verified reviewA nice place with a family atmosphere that is taken care of. The staff and volunteers are kind and helpful, there is a well-equipped kitchen and the hostel is in a quiet part of town.

Verified reviewIn a pretty central location. Close to markets to buy food from street vendors. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Had a hot shower and drinking water. Breakfast was simple but enough. WiFi was fine. Great for a night in Quito.
The whole historical center isn’t the safest at night, not the hostels fault. Smaller hostel, no English spoken, could be difficult if you don’t speak some Spanish.

Verified reviewGood location, nice staff, towel included, drinking water provided, good wifi, clean facilities, warm bedding for the cooler temperature, and breakfast included at this price is amazing.
Nothing was wrong, but pro tip: barely turn the water on for it to be warm.
