Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyApparently this area (la mariscal) is one of the better ones to stay in but we didn't like it too much as it felt sketchy at night, but like everywhere in Quito you just shouldn't walk around at night here
We had a really big room with bathroom and our own kitchen, so like our own appartment. The room was clean, the staff was nice and there was generally nothing to complain about.

United KingdomThe only noise problem was other guests entering and talking loudly in the communal areas, especially the children. The distinct lack of care and consideration by the guests and staff talking in communal areas early in the morning and late at night is typical of South America. Regarding the kitchen, we were frankly surprised and disappointed in the lack of cutlery and crockery, literally enough for a one course meal, anymore, and you need to wash up between courses! Talking of washing up, there was only cold water, no cleaning cloth/sponge, no draining board (so the water dripped onto the floor), and no drying towel. We really expected better. We didn't see any evidence of recycling. We were charged tax on the room, which we don't think we should have been charged as foreigners. Only bank transfer or cash payment, cards not accepted. The bedroom was lacking in hooks to hang wet coats.
This hotel offered private suites, ours was a self-contained, light, clean room (though the floor was prone to getting dirty), at the front of the hotel, with a kitchenette and a bathroom. The hotel was clean throughout. The hotel complex was secured by electronic keyfob access and the room by key. The staff were friendly and responded quickly to our issues and questions, to our satisfaction. The hotel was a few minutes walk from a large supermarket and to local transport systems running north and south. The kitchen was medium-sized and basic, with a sink, a 2 ring hob, a fridge with a small freezer box, a microwave, a juicer, and plenty of cupboard space. We got a toaster when we asked for it (which should have been included). Washing up liquid and a scouring pad were provided. The bathroom was a large size, with an excellent hot shower, plenty of hooks for towels, and a heated towel rail, and the lighting was good. It was generally quiet. It was slightly cold in the room, but there were adequate bed clothes to keep warm at night and they gave us a heater which was a great help. The bedroom had good storage, a large comfortable bed, adequate lighting, with one table lamp on the single bedside table. There was a reasonably priced laundry service available. The wifi/internet/network was intermittent, which could have been due to the weather, generally good, but did have a nasty habit of dropping connections.

The (largish) shower room window opened to a public access corridor, a slight security risk, so we had to remember to close it if we went out.
This hotel offered private suites, ours was a self contained, light, clean room (though the floor was prone to getting dirty), at the back of the hotel, with kitchenette (a bit dark) and bathroom. BelgiumAfter weeks of hostel dorms and questionable bunk beds, this place felt like pure luxury. A huge bed (big enough to starfish in), a fully equipped kitchen (no more instant noodles!), and a chill atmosphere, all for just $10 a night per person. If you’re a backpacker looking to feel like a budget king or queen for a night, this is the spot.

United StatesHot water flows only to the shower. Both sinks (bathroom sink and the kitchen sink) have no hot water, so the water was freezing cold every time I needed to wash my hands, my face, etc. The water that came from both sinks also smelled strongly like bleach. Mmm, that made me nervous about using it. The room itself was also consistently cold, which is weird because there are multiple vents in the ceiling, but no heating/AC. There were no scenic views from my room on the first floor. The bed is huge and leaves very little space to walk around it. Especially between it and the TV that's hanging too low on the wall. Made me feel like I was always going to accidentally knock the TV off of the wall whenever I had to squeeze by it. The TV remote did not work (even after I had the batteries changed) so the TV was of no use.
Fast and reliable wifi. The bed was very big and comfortable. Plenty of closet space with shelves and hangers. A spacious shower with ample hot water and water pressure. Microwave and stovetop in the room. Great location. Friendly and helpful staff.

BrazilThe only detail that bothered a bit was that whenever someone passes through the hallway, the lights automatically switch on, and they are directly in front of the bed, and the curtains are not black-out. A few people kept walking around during the night and that made the lights keep switching on and bothered me a bit during sleep.
Great cost benefit, excellent location in Quito. The bed is very confortable, the kitchen has everything you need to make meals, the wifi signal is good.

United StatesIt costs $1 an hour to park on the street. They do have a parking facility for 1 very small car for $4 a day. You are given 1 bottle of drinking water per day. There is not much to see within walking distance.
We stayed in both a newer and older room. The newer rooms are great - they have small kitchens and good bathroom facilities. The older rooms are still ok but not quite as good. The staff was great. The location is far enough away from old town to feel safe, but close enough where you can take an Uber (about $2 to get to old town).

EcuadorFor the price I have no compaints
Very nice for the price. Very friendly staff. The studios have a nice kitchenette and there is a larger community kitchen on the first floor. There is a dongle attached to the key for easy and secure entry and exit of the property. There is no breakfast included but I always bring something to make there. There is coffee in the main kitchen, sometimes you have to make a fresh pot and bring creamer if you like that
