There is nothing not to like about the place.

We loved the location and the gorgeous buildings in the old parts of Møgeltunder where the kro is located.. Great area for walks, especially when the weather is on your side. The Schackenborg castle is next door. Our room was located upstairs in a qute house next to the main building. The room was petite but still spacious, considering the time when the house was built. The bathroom was well equipped with toiletries, and it had a bathtub. The breakfast was extraordinary with a good spread from local producers as well as other Danish foods. Lovely porcelain and ambience. The staff was very hospitable and friendly. Especially the staff at the time for our arrival when the reception was closed. They had to leave their duties at the restaurant to give us the things missing in our room as it was only set up for one person. A minor error, but they really got out of their ways to set it straight. The garden was lovely as lovely as well.

Interesting location very close to the Schackenborg castle, which is worth a visit. The hotel has nice, spacious room. The dinner room is beautiful. The service is personal yet professional. However the best part is the food: our nine course dinner was fabulous.

Breakfast was excellent, food was very high quality and good selection. Main restaurant is high end and only set menu, but the castle restaurant in the grounds was very good and with reasonable prices for Denmark. Hotel in adjacent to a royal residence, with free entry into the beautiful gardens. No TV in room which we liked.

    Unique and antique experience

Imagine waking up, sleepily opening your curtains, and staring directly at a dozen tourists. Not quite the experience I was prepared for early in the morning, but one that is unfortunately inevitable when you are staying in an antique house with large windows directly onto a sidewalk, on the main road of a quaint tourist-town. Suffice to say, we kept the curtains to our bathroom closed pretty much the entire time. While antique houses have their charm, they also have quite a lot of creaks and gaps. We could see through the gaps in our door into the hallway beyond, and certainly hear other guests walk around there. The restaurant affiliated with the hotel is most excellent, but also quite expensive, so you may wish to eat elsewhere if cost is a concern.

It was quite an experience to stay in this ancient townhouse, right next to the castle. Both the building and our room were antique, but well maintained. We especially enjoyed the large and comfortable bed, and the ancient-looking bathtub. Breakfast was phenomenal, with many locally produced items, and the restaurant affiliated with the hotel is worth a visit in its own right. Our evening was spend enjoying the produce of a local brewery out on the patio, on a perfectly calm spring day. In the morning, we decided to take a leisurely stroll around the castle grounds, before traveling onwards towards the coast, a mere fifteen minutes away. We found the staff mostly very young but very helpful, and everyone we spoke to was fluent in English. They let us park right outside our room, though there is also a large car-park one house over for use by visitors to the castle. The cobbled streets are very unusual in these parts but help slow down traffic, and the entire area is meticulously maintained and well worth a visit. Overall, a very pleasant and unique experience.

It’s definitely a bit too expensive but also so is everything else in Denmark… I would still recommend a stay. We had a very good time! Also. This didn’t really bother me but the shower is a bit small and under a sloped ceiling so if you are tall you may find it a bit uncomfortable (room 405)

Location is great and the room that we got was very spacious and lovely - we loved the old school vibes! The bed was super comfy with fluffy pillows and warm covers. I appreciated the option to open windows and the blinds as I like to sleep in the dark. Breakfast didn’t have tons of options but all the staples were available; eggs, sausage, bacon, rolls + yoghurt and cereal and fresh fruit. No fresh juice but bottled drinks in several flavors were pretty good!

people walking in the garden outside the building since early morning--> noise. Also it is impossible to sleep or just stay in the room without curtains as people in the garden would see everything inside. That makes the room a bit dark and you are not able to admire the view

Absolutely fantastic. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was cosy, clean, beautifully styled (rustic). Breakfast in a separate building, but just across the small, stunning street and the food was tasty. Nice and quiet area for a short walk.

Very friendly staff/team with a good sence for service. The hotel and surroundings and villages nearby are characteristic/romantic. First evening we had a diner in the hotel restaurant which was very tasty. Within 45 minutes you can be at the insel Romo and take the ferry to Sylt for example.
