The lack of service. Its not bad but as its not staffed you miss the information you would normally get from a reception.

It's an ardjous process with the key pickup in the restaurant Kolvig a couple of 100 meters from the hotel away. When I arrived the restaurant was fairly crowded and I had to wait almost 15 minutes until the first person even paid any attention asking what I was waiting for...

Room was too small and have a sink in the room which was old and not clean. We put the sign to clean room and change towels, even I said the same to cleaning lady, but they didn’t do it . Shower head is not proper and water flow is slow.

Breakfast, few, small bake-off rolls, two types, plain yogurt with only muslie, no fresh fruit, for example, I think juice from a carton, and the coffee was not tasty for either of us, just to get an idea.

I’ve never paid that much for a room with toilet and shower not being private - never. The floor in cell 8 was full of stains that could have been cleaned with some effort. They were sticky. Please put clearly in the communication to pick up the keys at a nearby restaurant. It now just said “Kolvig” in the middle of a long email with a lot of information that didn’t apply our stay.

The room is very small, but you now this in advance since it is a former prison.

Central location, free parking not far away. Good breakfast, friendly staff. Clean room and bathroom, good beds. Good shower too and all you need for a couple of nights is present. Possibility to stall bicycles in the enclosed garden.

- The check in is very impersonal. You have to check in at a near by restaurant and then you don't see any staff for the rest of your stay. They even called me to make sure I had checked in !? - The place is outdated, the electricity cables are visible (from tv), the windows are old and some windows are glued shut, which adds to the odd smell. it needs and update. You feel like some one else is running the hotel now and they are just doing the mere basics (the terrace is closed, the restaurant is closed, there is an open bar...) - The breakfast is basic, the breakfast room is very warm to eat, again you hardly see staff - value for money is VERY poor, i guess you pay for the prima location.

This hotel is in a prime location. You have a view of the old Dom of Ribe. It is very interesting that is in an old prison. It still smells like one, it feels like you can stills smell the sweat from the prisoners 100's of years ago. We stayed in the supervisors room and there was no mould and it was very clean, it was hot though and only 2 small windows could open. There is not a lot of noise from the street. The sheets are clean. comfy beds The bathroom is clean and did not smell funky (we stayed in de supervisors suite, private bathroom) We did have a family room and it did have everything.

The bathroom was perhaps unsurprisingly cramped which isn’t a problem but the floor got soaked each time the shower was used. The breakfast was poor in our opinion. The rubbish and recycling was a real mess outside where we chose to have breakfast and the tables needed cleaning.

The quirky accommodation in the old prison was great. The beds were comfy and cells were clean. The location is perfect to explore the very pretty town of Ribe. Really enjoyed our stay.

The building is quite old, so the showers might need a renewal. And there are no cupboards in the room. But honestly, I didn’t mind, because the place is just too lovely and for my needs (solo-traveller with just a backpack) absolutely perfect!

Loved the atmosphere of the place as well as the location! The hosts are extremely friendly and accommodating. The room was bright and the beds very comfortable. Breakfast was great as well!

Although sleeping in a former jail is a gimmick, too expensive for this experience (175 euro per night). The breakfast was very disappointing. Very noisy rooms. I knew about the shared bathroom and toilet, but no…not pleasant. For this price i expect a lot more. I regretted not booking hotel Dagmar across the street.
