How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewIt’s in a remote place, quite nice and quiet there… actually very quiet.
The reception is often non-accessible… at least when we tried.

Verified reviewSpacious room with great view. The hotel is a project to give young people experience who have some distance to the labor market which is a great initiative.
The breakfast was a bit simple. We were missing eg yoghurt and sweets.

Verified reviewBeautiful buildings and very good breakfast. Nice views.
Booked a room for 4 adults. Was only a double room. 2 ok normal single beds, but then the sofa plus sofa table plus big chair were squeezed to the side and two foldable beds squeezed into the room so really difficult to maneuver around in the room as now way too tight. Plus the one bed cookies collapsed 2 times so at the end we put the mattress directly on the floor. The rest was fine

Verified reviewThe place, the atmosphere, the food.
The hotel is quite basic with facilities. Paper cups on our bathroom. Some dust webs around the windows and floors make a lot of noise when you walk. Though this is probably normal for a monastery. We booked 3 rooms for our group. The other 2 were ok on the other side of the building. We were not lucky to have a room right under the caffee/ social room. A group of pensionists were having a party right above our room until midnight. We could not sleep as everytime they walk and move chairs made a lot of noise with the kind of wood floor in this building including the talking. Bad sound proofing. My husband had to go to sleep in the car parked outside far from our room until it became quite. Or else without this incident of partying above us, we will recommend the place if you want something relaxing and different. Food buffet was good. Sea view but not right outside as I thought from the picture. One of the reason we booked was the idea it was just outside. The sea is far from the hotel..

Verified reviewI don't usually book Danhostal, but as I love the castles and old buildings, we had to visit to see it. We were very positive and surprised. Now, the review is to be seen in the light it is a Danhostal, not a 5-star hotel. I must express my positive experience. A beautiful place. Super service and kind staff. Amazing breakfast room. Caffe, etc., available 24/7. We appreciate it atay a lot and give it our warmest recommendations
there was nothing we did not like, but we would love to be able to have dinner in the lovely breakfast restaurant.

Verified reviewI have been calling to the hotel several times, all day and no one picked up the phone. Couldn't reach them. I didn't stay at the hotel because no one was there to meet me. I would to get a full refund of the money.

Verified reviewBeatifull location and building
btw - I wrote various time arriving late re key - staff confirmed by mail that reception would be open and key there. I cam think 22.30ish - got into reception - but no key planted for me. Walked behind the counter and found where keys were supposed to be - my key no 106 was not there. Back to the door to the room again - no key. Back again to reception - still no envelope nor key in sight. Nobody picking up on the emergency phone no - trying various times. Was lucky to find a group of people still awake - one lady was nice to help. She was a regular with yoga and thought she knew where to find the key. Again back to reception and there she knew about a drawer with an envelope with my name + room no 106 and finally a key. Not really well organized not to put it on the counter or inform me where to look. Was tired after flying half of the day and just been driving 500 km from Hamburg and now wasted more than 30 minutes. Please note for future guests and tell staff. But still nice place and good value - will maybe be back

Verified reviewExcellent location... I have always wanted to stay in a monastery and seep into the spiritual energy. This place is really out this world. Simply amazing... The openness that you enjoy from your window is purely exceptional. The herb garden is a wonderful spot to enjoy the bounty of nature. The breakfast buffet is in Monk's cellar, it is such a tranquil place to start your day and the common room with the historical fireplace and chandeliers is the best place to have your dinner. The room was spacious, the ceilings are so high -nothing that you can find in modern day buildings. The long beach and the forest behind offer beautiful walking trails. The whole staff was amazing; the warm welcome of Mikolaus and the last day farewell from Kasper made our hearts smile 💖 We definitely would like to come back.
