Right in old downtown, plenty of restaurants, and the Heidelberg Ruines

Great downtown location, right on the start of the old downtown and shopping street. Old rooms, but quiet. NO elevators. Winding stairway to and from the room. Check-in and Breakfast in Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten. Looks like the parent company. They have paid parking available nearby at a charge, but cant be booked in advance. About 1 km walk, but safe behind gates.

The heavy smell of the restaurant when you enter the building, the breakfast was just adequate, there was no refrigerator or a bottle of water in the room.

The room was not equipped with airconditioning and there was fungus in the bathroom at several places.

Like previous reviews I had read beforehand the room below eye level could do with a good dust.

I had no problem with breakfast it was sufficient for my needs. The staff at breakfast and on reception were very friendly.

Wifi was non-existent during most of my stay. There was no "Do not disturb" sign available in my room and as a result I got DISTURBED.

There was not a kettle or drink making facilities in our room also there was not a glass/cup for drinking water. There was nothing telling us we could not drink water in the tap in the bathroom, we did and was fine. There is a lot of noise from the street, but it is in a busy touristy area.

The breakfast room was spacious, they provided a good continental breakfast with orange juice, tea or coffee. I liked that breakfast went up until 10am, no need to rush to get to it before it is packed away.

Excellent location, in the centre of Heidelberg, almost next to the well-known pedestrian bridge. Room is ok, breakfast is fine but nothing fancy: It is a small breakfast room with tiny tables.

The straws rug is smelly abit and not clean even some of the sofas but the bathroom and bed are clean but yet the pillows must be changed!

Just very far from Main stations and it was a bit difficult to find the correct bus/tram to the Alte bridge. Only stairs to the second floor. Very difficult with 20kg cases and being over 60!

No parking close by. Poor communication as to where you have to book in and it is around the corner from the hotel ……at another hotel. You also have your breakfast there next morning.

Check-in was a little confusing, but was explained on the web site. As an American I do not like the standard German hotel beds and linens but that is a personal preference, not a specific critique of the hotel. That is the reason I rated the beds poorly.

Breakfast was good. Overall the hotel was fine. While not a 4 star hotel, it was a very good value for the cost. I would not hesitate to it recommend it for a value conscious traveler.
