Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

United KingdomConsidering that the only place nearby was the restaurant itself, we were very surprised that there was no refrigerator or kettle in our room. I asked if we could borrow a kettle but they said no. There was nowhere nearby to have breakfast and the restaurant didn't offer any . That was quite a disappointment. We did eat there the first night (food was good) when it was open but they would not accept credit card payment.
We liked the parking facilities and the ease with which we could store our bikes. Check in was easy and the room was comfortable. It was in a good location for visiting Hamburg and for exploring the locality. The restaurant was good though it was closed for most of the time we were there.

United KingdomThe property is feeling a little dated. We didn't mind this at all. The only thing which was a little worrying was the shower door, which felt like it might fall off - whichever way we tried to close or open it! One thing to bear in mind (and this is stated on Booking.com) is that there is no breakfast available. But there were lits of options at the train station.
A simple, good value place to stay for our visit to Hamburg. We had a car, so needed somewhere to park. There was a good bus service to Wilhelmsburg station from where it was a short train ride into the centre of town. All very convenient. The shower pressure was really fantastic - lovely way to wake up. We also asked our host if we could check out half an hour later when we left, and that wasn't a problem.

FranceThere was no space at the hotel, we were told that Booking .com had not confirmed to booking until that day even though we received confirmation from Booking.com several days earlier. Booking.com offered to pay the difference in the price for an alternative hotel but would accept no responsibility for the overbooking nor make any allowance for other factors, including the time and inconvenience required find and travel to alternative accommodation.
