Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

JapanPower Socket : There are just a few power socket in the room. I didn't scramble for it with the other hotel guests. I wish the room or each single bed had more socket. the common area also should have more of it. It was not problem at all.
Location: It’s quiet area there, not noisy at night. there're a Natural history museum close to the hostel you can go free of charge. you can just take tram from the main station to go to the hostel. it's working distance to get to shopping area and supermarket. the hostel is located nice Location. Guest kitchen: It's looks new and large enough. You can buy Ingredients in the supermarket and cook your own food. Breakfast: Coffee tastes great. I feel comfortable with great tasty coffee from the morning. Room: I stayed in a 4-Bed Dorm room. It´s clean. The Bathroom is also large and well tidy.

Costa RicaPeople in my room made noise and had a party after 10 pm. Maybe they should inform about quiet times in the reception.
Very nice staff!

NorwayWe book one more extra night, came to reception to ask if everything is all right and they said it’s okay we see your new booking you don’t need to do anything. And turns out all of our entrance cards stoped working and we need to renew them in the middle of the night so it’s good that one of us stayed at the hostel and let us in because there was no one at the reception :) just a misunderstanding.
Good location, lovely place to stay:)

United StatesWomen’s dorm shower and toilet were not attached to the room. Someone left the key I. The bathroom, and none of us could use the toilet in the morning until we found a staff member to open it.
Cleaned daily. Good WiFi. Great kitchen. Queer-friendly.

GermanyIn summer the room is a bit hot so we had to open the window at night, and it is a bit noisy when the tram passes by.

Czech RepublicThe downside was that you had to pick up and take your own bed linen outside, the breakfast was rather modest and there was no proper ventilation of the room, it was very stuffy. But the coffee was great.
Convenient location. Nice staff. Very beautiful and unique hostel.

PolandThere were very few kitchen utensils, only very basic ones. The same is true about the size of the fridge, after all meant for four guests. The price-quality relation was not too favourable. No drawers and only a smallish standing hanger make the place less comfortable than it might potentially be.
The staff and location were very good. So was cleanliness and no problem with checking in and out. Also the room is large.

JapanIt's nice, that it's located in the city centre, but the street is quite noisy if your roommates need to keep windows open all the time (not complaining, because it's not a hostel problem, but just note for those with light sleep - you might need to bring some ear plugs or have windows closed). Room cards tend not to work quite often for unlocking rooms, but staff will quickly reprogram them for you (happened to me twice). There wasn't any kettle, cups, fridge or microwave (at least I didn't find any), but you can get hot water from the staff. If you get a top bunk bed, you will need a longer charger cable as outlets are just down.
The staff was very helpful and nice. Rooms are cleaned daily, even dust on top of the wardrobes ✨ Towels available for 1€ a piece. Not all rooms have hair dryers, but for 10€ deposit you can borrow one from reception which is nice as you get it all back upon returning. You can also borrow for 10€ deposit lock for the wardrobe (contains shelves, so the big suitcase doesn't fit in, in case you are curious). Nice breakfasts too (I had the same selection available every day: toast bread, nice buns, ham, cheese, toaster machine, jam, butter, bell pepper, cucumber, hummus, porridge, fruit compote, yoghurt and granola, coffee machine (oat milk available too), tea selection, (no eggs or sausages though, but understandable for the price)... Overall, I liked it here and would come here again (for the WGT festival). Good price, nice location, I recommend (I stayed at only-woman shared room for 6 occupants for 5 nights).

United KingdomI don't understand why it's so expensive. I also never like 'open' bunks anyway, but it is a particular issue when some people can charge by their bed and some can't, esp if they both want to charge their phone and use it for an early alarm.
Generally nice place with nice staff.

United KingdomI've stayed at Wombat hostels before and found them great. This is the chains latest acquisition and seems to be still converting/rebranding. It was very, very quiet. I was there for three nights and I was the only one in the bar/cafe The cafe didn't serve food or snacks - maybe they will in future. The gust kitchen has just been refitted and the 'bar' is new. Dorm (4 bed ensuite) was clean and spacious but power points for phones were a problem and the bunk lights were at the foot end of the wooden bunks... The breakfasts were OK but expensive for the quantity available and the limited choice.

GermanyThere wasn't a comfortable electricity next to the bed, you had to move some things or charge your phone in the bathroom, kinda weird.
Amazing location close to old town and to the central station (hauptbahnhof). Great helpful staff, helped me with an issue I had in the city unrelated to the stay itself.

MalaysiaI stayed here with my four and six year old children on our first visit to Leipzig and the zoo. My children and I were happy with the room and the friendly staff. It's very close to the main train station and the zoo (walking distance)! I recommend this hostel if you're traveling with children.

CanadaI arrived at Wombats hostel in the beginning of june where I had previously stayed several times when it was the Sleepy lion. Upon enquiring as to whether I could stay in a 5 bed dorm with single beds I was told abruptly" You can stay in the other dorm or you can leave " When I said to Valaria the manager to say such a thing is offensive she said "You can leave" I said "refund me the money " she said "you can get it from bookings.." as I was leaving a co worker at the desk said to me"You are AMERICAN You think you can say what you want!: THIS HOSTEL DISCRIMINATES AGAINST AMERICANS! SlovakiaI had relatively rowdy roommates. Maybe making the beds slightly less creaky would help prevent the annoyance one would encounter in such a predicament
Incredible staff, facilities and vibes all around! Will recommend to all my friends and most likely stay at when visiting the other cities they’re supposedly based in.
