Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Location was key , the S1 (over/under ground railway system) was minutes away, which has direct line to airport, the city, that alone is invaluable , get the HVV Switch app for travel. Room is basic, clean, breakfast simple, this was just somewhere to sleep, Shops minutes away as well.

NetherlandsThe rooms are getting a little old and walking at night to the rooms is a little difficult without enough light. Thge carpets etc are in need of an update. But beds are still good and also the bathroom. Some rooms are in the cellar and they do have fungus on parts of the wall.
The breakfast is always good (this was my 3rd time at the hotel) and the fact that it is next to a train station and close to some shops and restaurants is also good. Some staff are really friendly but the lady at the reception needs to learn to smile.

DenmarkThere are not that many choices in the breakfast buffet.
It's a nice older hotel with great decor. Friendly staff. The room was nice, a bit small, especially the bathroom. The shower was excellent.

GermanyYou may consider investing in some new towels. It doesn't cost too much, and makes a big difference.
There is nothing inherently wrong with the Hotel Schmidt. It just needs a bit of a freshening up, as the years have not been particularly kind to it. Everything is there, and everything works. There is a retro maritime vibe that, with a bit of flair, could turn this aging property into a little gem. I've stayed at worse hotels, but I've certainly experienced better ones. Parking is a bonus! Location right next to an S-bahn station may come in handy for some.

Denmarkmy room was directly over the urban train line, so not exactly quiet. The furniture are very old and in the bathroom there was a fan that was starting whenever and lasting until whenever, so not exactly the best for getting asleep. But well, the shower and bathroom were ok.
I choose this hotel for a one night only trip to hamburg and was not disappointed. Free parking and free breakfast plus very close to highway and metro are good value even if price for one night is not cheap, but hamburg is not cheap anyway

NorwayIt was very warm those days and I was asking for a room on the northern side. But I was told there is no vacant room on that side, though I hardly saw many guests. I got a room on the southern side and under the roof. It was unbearable warm especiable at night
Very good location for the purpose of my stay. Nice room and bath.

GermanyThe breakfast was horrible. COLD scrambled eggs, lukewarm coffee, H-Milch, bread probably two days old, and a very poor selection in general. The breakfast was truly disappointing and not worth even 2 EUR. There is a bakery in front, if I come again to this hotel I will not book breakfast and I will just walk to the bakery. The towels are very very very used, consider bringing your own towel.
Considering Hamburg prices and what a room here costs many things can be forgiven. Location is good, parking is free. The employees were friendly and they organized late key pickup in the safety box. Best water pressure in a hotel shower I've had in a very long time.

PhilippinesWe were assigned a big room in the villa at the back of the hotel which is what I really appreciated. It was a late request I did with the accommodating lady at the reception area when we arrived so I guess that was the only available big room at that time. Unfortunately, the heater stopped running late in the evening and because it was late already, to go out and walk in the cold evening was not something I would want to do since I was so tired already. The room is quite old and a little renovation would be nice
Very good location, S-bahn and bus stop are just across the hotel, there are restaurants, a grocery store, coffee shops, apotheke (medicine store) and bake shops just within walking distance no more than 100 meters from the hotel.
