Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesDidn’t realize there was no A/C in the room, didn’t get cool until 11:00 at night. Many of the spa facilities were out of order.
Nice quiet property, secluded in the woods, great walking trails to the nearby castle and town.

United StatesThe room I stayed in was a bit dim with not the best lighting. Could use a little updating on this aspect.
The hotel is situated in beautiful quiet location, walking distance to Landstuhl and the castle ruins up the hill. The rooms are very clean and the bedding quite comfortable.

United StatesThis is our second stay here, the property is beautiful! We stayed in room 15 this time and will request this room going forward. The bed was much more comfortable than our other room. If you like a firm mattress with a pillow top cover this is the bed for you! The bathroom was nice and seemed newly renovated. Our room itself was smaller than the last, but we still had plenty of room for us and our dog!

United StatesOur shower flooded and the walls were not very soundproof.
The hotel and our room were clean. The breakfast was your typical European spread. It's located right next to Nanstein Castle. Typical European mattress: not memory foam, but also not rock hard.

United StatesThe spa was very nice but the hours it was open were a bit limited, recommend expanding spa hours for use. Also the restaurant is expansive but hours were limited as well, could open for a happy hour or snacks so guests can hang out there.
Facilities were all newly renovated and modern so very nice and affordable. Plus the hotel is walking distance to the cute town but with its own space in a forest with parking and a hike to a castle!

GermanyPrimarily the bathroom was kind of primitive extremely small shower, and still using keys to open the door.
The shower what is the smallest I've ever witnessed in a hotel. Overall the room was clean, but in the corner there was cobwebs by the floor.

IrelandThe hotel itself is located in a beautiful surrounding, and we received a warm welcome. While it may be a little dated it was clean and had some charm. My first disappoinment was in the spa area, where only one sauna and steam room was in operation, the other sauna was off, and the plunge pool was also out of service. I had booked this particular hotel because of the nice looking spa, something my partner and I truly enjoy. When I brought this to the attention of the manager I was met with complete indifference, and told that this was normal to not have all of the spa facilities open.... But at the same time I also expressed my disappointment with the room we were given (overlooking the staff court yard) where on the first day we were woken by some builders putting up scaffolding, and the second by a member of the staff cutting their nails right outside our window at about 8am. I would understand that we would be given this room if the hotel had been full, but it was clearly at about 30-40% occupancy. The complete indifference by the manager when I raised this with him was quite shocking, no apology, no explanation as to why we would have been given such a bad room, and worst of all I had booked this hotel for my partners birthday and had mentioned this at the time of booking. Overall we did enjoy ourselves here, but still left disappointed by the lack of professionalism from the manager/owner. The breakfast selection was good.
