How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence

- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Nothing really.
A well-established hotel that delivers a sustained level of four star service. Excellent breakfast can keep you going all day. Arranges coaches to take Wagner enthusiasts to the festival performances in the summer. The was my third visit and if/when I return to Bayreuth the Rheingold Hotel will be my first choice.

Quite limited hanging and storage space in the room - and it was only me, I think a couple would have found it difficult. Would have preferred to have my own in- room ironing board and iron given that I wanted to look my best for the Festspiele and my four days of wandering about Bayreuth and having to deal with this in their ironing room was not ideal.
Most things but particularly all the staff were wonderful and could not be more helpful

No fridge in the room or minibar with cold drinks, rather old furniture
Shuttle bus service to the Festspielhaus, breakfasts from 7am, aircon in west-facing rooms, cleaning perfect, comfortable room, ironing room, walking distance to the Altstadt, bathtub instead of a shower stall

No air conditioner in my room means in summer it’s like an oven. Had to borrow a fan. Some rooms have aircon so suggest you request one of those if you like cold nights like I do. No fridge in room makes no sense in summer months or for those who want to store milk in morning with own coffee, and no kettle but you can request one from reception.
Very well maintained and clean with very personable staff willing to help out those who are not native German speakers

The breakfast was not very good. It's a buffet, and there is a good selection, but it lacked in quality.
Though it is quite a big hotel, we felt like it was a family run hotel. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. Definitely would stay there again.

First, the location of Hotel Rheingold was very good. It was very convenient to the Bayreuth old town, as well as restaurants and shopping. The room was small, but nice, comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was good, although the selection of breakfast items could be a bit wider, particularly in terms of meats and cheeses. Restocking of the breakfast buffet also could have been quicker. However, the staff working the breakfast were wonderful, helpful and very welcoming. We would come to the Rheingold hotel again if the opportunity arose.

In the shower/bath, it took up to 2 minutes till cold water started to run. So only really hot water was running first couple of minutes. But this issue we had only in one of our two rooms. In the other room was all good.
Very central location, close to the city center, shopping mall and christmas markets. Private parking for 8 / 10 EUR. Breakfast was good (for extra charge). Free wi-fi. Room nicely big and quite, comfortable bed.

Front desk staff was professional but not extraordinary. The rooms did not offer a kettle for hot water, no mini fridge.

There was an air conditioning control in the room but it did not work
Good location with own hotel car park. Visiting for the Wagner Festival and hotel provides a very good value coach service to the theatre. Excellent breakfast and helpful staff. Comfortable room.
