I had a last minute trip for work and hubby and I booked here at the Grüner Baum very last minute, while on the road actually, when we arrived we were greeted professionally and were given all details that were needed. Attention to detail here is excellent and one can see the hotel is kept to high standards compared to other establishments of the same price range. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed (Monday & Tuesday sind Ruhetage) but the aromas wafting through the hotel were amazing and when we get a chance again we will definitely dine here. Breakfast was great, extremely fresh! Our room was comfortable and had a ceiling fan which helped a lot. Check-out wasn't an early hour either, so all-in-all a great choice.

US Virgin IslandsSmoking at the reception area. Having to check-in at a reception room that reeks of smoke is a deal breaker. Having to go through the reception/lobby that stinks of smoke to get to/from the room upstairs is just not acceptable - I can't recommend the hotel to non-smokers and I will not stay here again. It was disgusting. Perhaps the hotel should advertise they cater to smokers. The room was very cold upon arrival. Most hotels I've been to and the boutique historic hotel I used to work at always heated the rooms at least a little before a guest arrived so the guest isn't wondering why it's almost colder indoors than it is outdoors.
Location in the historic village center was nice, near sites and restaurants, and within a 15 min. walk through town to the thermal bath. Staff was friendly. The numerous notices that parking was limited or not available. If I had a vehicle it's good to know I'd have to park elsewhere ahead of time. If you're coming with public transportation it's not far from the bus stop or train station.

We did not stay in the main building. There are not enough parking spaces in the immediate vicinity of the hostel. With several packages, check-in is difficult and inconvenient, especially if the accommodation is not in the main building..
