Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe access is a little strange along a rough road at the back of the railway station, this is not a problem but we were not sure that we were going the correct way.
We enjoyed our stay. The room was a good size and comfortable although it was up two flights of stairs. We had an excellent evening meal and breakfast was good. Good parking. The position below the castle ruins is spectacular.

United StatesWe liked everything.
The owners were so nice to us when we arrived. Even though their restaurant was not open that night, they provided us with a meal. The views are incredible - it's at the Castle Ramstein and overlooks a beautiful valley. We would like to come back when it's earlier in the season to take advantage of the outdoor seating. The property is decorated with so many lovely items which add to the ambiance. You know that the owners have really cared about their guests' experience.

NetherlandsWe got very well informed before our arrival. Even though we were the only guests for dinner, they kept the kitchen open. Very friendly and helpful staff in a cozy and characteristic hotel.

United KingdomThis is such a great hotel! Old fashioned which I usually avoid but going by the reviews and the price I decided to give it a go. The staff are friendly, especially Sabine/Sabina (not sure which it was) who helped us with some luggage up to the second floor. She speaks pretty good English which helped as we are not German speakers and what she didn't know we were able to understand. Room was clean and comfortable with amazing views of the forest, sitting out on the balcony with a drink and birdsong all around was fantastic. Shower quite tiny and sink is in bedroom. We had a meal out on the terrace and the breakfast was good. I loved it but if you don't enjoy driving on slightly mountainous roads or being high up on a balcony then maybe don't book it (as my husband would unfortunately say..)

NetherlandsI missed a bit a set for making tea/coffee in the room. Matraces where quite old and set in the middle. Its old house so smells like old house and makes noices like old building (normal)
Definately place needs to be refreshed and reworked, for some its vintage for other its just old. Location is very nice, in the middle of woods, quiet and peaceful. Road may be a bit tricky for first time. Room was clean with balcony and bathroom. Breakfast fresh and full enough.

NetherlandsCan't imagine something negative but if you like smooth en modern I don't think this is your cup of tea.
During my cycling trip I booked a night at Hotel Restaurant Burg Ramstein. I had of course seen the pictures and description on Booking in advance, but I was still pleasantly surprised by the beautiful vintage condition of the old building and the location. It is an old family hotel and radiates history on all sides. So if you like soulless Ikea interiors, don't go here. The hotel is also beautifully situated on a hill with a beautiful terrace overlooking the valley. The menu for dinner contains traditional German dishes, the food was very tasty. The service is personal and helpful, you can tell that it is a family hotel. And as icing on the card, even more history; Diagonally behind the hotel is Burg Ramstein, a freely accessible ruins of an old castle. Nice to take a look and enjoy the view. I would go here again in a heartbeat!

NetherlandsIt is true that the building is old and could be in better shape however it shows character and considering the price the rooms are in a good condition.
We had booked this place to find some quiet in our busy life and we got more than what we expected. I have spent a lot of time in rustic hotels while growing up and this place felt just like home to me. The hotel is adjacent to the historic castle and the hotel is run by family for 7-8 generations for more than 200 years. And there are multiple trekking paths you can start from your door step. We did not had chance to try to restaurant however the breakfast buffet was very large. The owners are super nice and the room we stayed in was very clean. If you have a request before checking-in they definitely care!

NetherlandsAlthough the owners are really nice and sweet people who work really hard, I couldn't help to feel maintenance of a building this age and size, and running the hotel is just too much for such a small team. The whole building feels tired, smells faintly like wet dog and generally is in need of a lot of TLC. Although the towels and bedding were clean, you could see they were old. The room, like the rest of the hotel, is very old fashioned with multiple carpets over carpets, creaky floors and an even noisier bed. There was some mold on the carpet near the balcony door and a lot of (dead) bugs, also in the dining room.
Perfect location, some lovely walks to be made from the doorstep. They serve adequate food, mainly deepfried but does the job after a proper walk. Awesome views from the beer garden and room's balcony. Breakfast selection is fine for bread and cereals, no fresh fruit.
