Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe bed was uncomfortable. The walls were VERY thin heard guests next door talking and coughing all night. No a/c or fan to cool room, was hot and stuffy to sleep.
Touring the old ruins of an abandoned castle. The view from the restaurant patio. Our room had a small balcony facing the woods not a view but trees.

GermanyI got the first room directly at the entrance so you hear whenever someone comes in or goes out. Also the ceiling makes noises if you have someone above you cause its old wood floor.
The location was awesome and interesting.

GermanyI came in wrong time so was not lucky enough. Main road to hotel was closed and no information how to drive. No personal in reception when I came - mean self registration. All details were provided by e-mails but nothing about how to drive to hotel in case of road closure. And finally restauranr was closed for 2 days.
Nice place for sure ....in season time. Historical place, nice view. Forest right near.

United StatesThe restaurant is closed on Monday and Tuesday. But, there are great options in town.
Quaint, private and quiet. Located in what used to be a castle, which you can still explore. Great restaurant with a fantastic view. People are very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel at home.

AustraliaSelf check in was awkward- prior instructions of how to do this would be useful. There was a lack of staff to help on our arrival which was about 5.30pm. Restaurant was closed - and it is at least 10kms to find another. Found this strange being the middle of the summer season.
A hotel in a great location with a great view from the grounds.

United StatesThe property was old ( of course- it was a castle) but it was not renovated as much as I was lead to believe. It was very moldy and dank. I coughed and sneezed all night.
We did not feel safe. No one was on site when we checked in. The hotel reception was apparently closed on Mondays. We retrieved our keys from a box (as did other guests), opened the door and made ourselves at home.

United StatesThe museum nor shop were open and no staff we asked really knew if they were going to open or not. Seemed disorganized. We were very disappointed we could not tour the castle after waiting an hour after checkout to see if the shop would open. The castle tour was a main reason we stayed here. We had to make a reservation for dinner but it seemed silly since it was us and two other tables the whole time.
The castle grounds were nice to walk around. The red wine was fantastic. The room was fine; hot, so we slept with the door open (December). The breakfast was nice.

IrelandThe actual accommodation is in the grounds of the castle, the breakfast room is across the yard. The castle is situated up on higher ground and away from where you actually stay. The staff, 2 in particular very rude, curt, blunt and lack warmth towards guests. When I rang to book a room directly with hotel Natalie told me they were fully booked, yet I was able to book one online at the same time. When we arrived all our paperwork was in German and needed help to wade our way through the check in process - keys are left outside the main door in an envelope along with paperwork to be filled in. When we went for breakfast within the allocated serving times, the blonde middle aged staff member was not happy to see us, had already completely cleared away all buffet food and was again rude, annoyed and gave out to us in German, she was curt and scolding towards us. She also continued to mutter at us in German each time she passed our table. She begrudgingly brought us out 2 slate tiles with some bread rolls, cheese, ham and some jams packets (one was already half used). She then plugged in the vacuum cleaner and starting using it as we tried to eat the food. These 2 staff members made our stay a misery. The beds lacked comfort, pillows were not fit for purpose, hair on sheets. This is a 2-3 star hotel so lower your expectations.
Great location BESIDE the castle, in the grounds. The staff in the shop are lovely and helpful. The views are great.

United StatesHad we known the restaurant would be closed during our stay, we would have looked elsewhere. What was really not excusable was that the hotel itself was effectively closed as well. Self-check in, with no more provisions for guests than a key, a bottle of water and some moldering fruit in the lobby. There was an adequate breakfast laid out, but again, no one available at check out.
We had lunch on their gorgeous terrace many years ago, and always looked forward to going back. It’s a gorgeous location and had had an excellent restaurant. Our guest room was small but with a nice balcony, if looking into the nearby woods rather than over the Neckar river valley. Bed not very comfortable, though bathroom was updated and fine. And Leon at the museum and gift shop (independent of the hotel) was incredibly helpful and offered a top-notch restaurant recommendation.

United StatesNo air conditioning and it was very warm. You don’t actually stay IN the castle but in a building next to it. Waitress at breakfast was very rude.
