Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomThere was only 1 person working as a receptionist, barman, cook and waiter. He was a Polish guy and I hope he gets 5 wages for all the work he does. Although there weren't many people at the time, it's just ridiculous to leave 1 person to do everything. There were about 5 families in the restaurant, so you can imagine the wait time with one person preparing everything.

United StatesHotel looked abandoned when we arrived. No clear entrance to hotel. Reception desk look closed when we arrived in the middle of the day. No other guests around. When I stood at reception desk, staff stayed in back room for some time before addressing me. When I went to my room, hotel looked closed, my room was all the way at the end and the cleaning staff left dirty sheets on the ground in front of all the rooms and it looked unpleasant. Beds were not comfortable. Days we unusually hot and there was no way to cool the room down. We booked hotel for location and free shuttle to soccer game (advertised on booking.com profile) but there was no shuttle. The grounds around the hotel need to be addressed. Mow the grass around entrance.

United KingdomI paid £45 for a taxi to the hotel from the Munich airport. On my arrival at the hotel, there was nobody at reception desk to provide me the key to my room. I called the number given and the person in charge told me that he was 25km away from the hotel and he said he wasn't willing to come to the hotel to give me the key to my room. Instead he adviced me to book a room somewhere else which I ended up calling another taxi and staying at another hotel in the city. I haven't got any apologies neither from the hotel nor from booking.com. They haven't refunded the money I paid for the room.

United KingdomThis was a very creepy experience for my family , as a last minute booking, arriving at a hotel linked to a shooting venue & themed as such..target logos in your bedroom anyone!…that was open on arrival but not a soul around…it reminded me of the Shining film and we only didn’t leave there and then because another family arrived just then ..about half hour later 1 caretaker arrived apologising..we felt sorry for him..he was well meaning , but everything was closed …he tried to make up for it, as best as he could. We voiced , as other couple did that we wanted a refund, but as late ,we stayed 1 night and my son said we needed to leave…we did not stay second night.

DenmarkOn Booking.com it says the reception is open 24h but that was not the case. The room keys left for us on the reception desk didn't work so we couldn't get into our rooms. We struggled with contacting the hotel on the various phone numbers (why are there different phone numbers on key cards, reception desk and Booking.com?). Only one of the numbers finally responded and send a guy to fix the cards. We asked if we could get a compensation and were told that he would ask the manager. We never heard from them again and the day after they didn't answer the phones again... The day after, we buy breakfast but there were no eggs or bacon left already 9.30 (not that many guests). We asked for more but it took 25 minutes to get it. We asked the only guy working in the restaurant what compensation he could give us for the waiting. He lifted his shoulders and told us that the service was sufficient and we just had to accept and pay. No understand for our dissatisfaction at any point.
