Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalWe changed one of the beds layout because the walls were dirty and wanted to be closer to each other. The next day while we are enjoying our trip, we receive a call from the hotel, screaming in german (none of us speaks german and did say that during the checkin) that we must change the beds immediately. Obviously we were going to change the beds back to normal, that call was unnecessary and impolite. We did not like the accommodations, old and overused, the light bulbs were unscrewed and some did not work.
location.

EstoniaThe main downside was the size of the bathroom — it was very small and felt a bit cramped. The rooms in general could use some renovation. Also, the floors were very squeaky, and it was easy to hear when someone walked past our room, especially at night, which affected the quality of sleep a little.
I really liked the location of the hotel — it was only a 3-minute walk to the nearest U-Bahn (metro) station and about 7 minutes to the S-Bahn, which takes you to the center of Berlin very quickly. This made getting around the city super convenient. The neighborhood itself was pleasant, quiet, and felt safe. The breakfast was also quite good — a decent selection of items like fresh bread, eggs, cheese, and coffee, which was more than enough to start the day.

GermanyCleanliness was not so good, to be honest. The place is old, which could be charming from itself, but for the price I paid for, I was expecting more.

United KingdomNothing - as a stimulus to the imagination, it is perfect - including the carpet, which could do with a shampoo, and the funny smell.
A fine old establishment, redolent of the Cold War in its decor. It was entertaining to imagine the intrigues that must have taken place in these lugubrious corridors. Check-in was a key box in the street outside; I hardly saw any staff. Good location by the U-bahn and a decent cold spread for breakfast. I loved the ancient bathroom and the old cage lift that crept between floors - though a sign on the Pension door might have been helpful.

United KingdomWhile we were generally satisfied with the service, there were a couple of issues that significantly impacted our experience. Firstly, the hotel is quite old, and this affected the overall comfort and enjoyment of our stay. More importantly, despite booking as a couple, we were provided with two single beds placed beside each other instead of a double bed. This was quite inconvenient and did not meet our expectations for a couple’s accommodation.

PortugalA lot. The towels clearly aren’t cleaned, I had to ask for clean towels several times after being extremely rude, constantly; the walls have stains and the bathroom has mold. When I tried to speak to the “receptionist” even trying to translate with my phone, they were the worse people I’ve ever had contact with in a hotel/ pension wtv. The bedsheets were NOT CLEAN nor the bed WAS MADE. You had to put your duvets, or literally make the bed every single time! Not to mention, the floor was never cleaned. They do NOT have surveillance or clearly cameras, to the point I had to sleep with a chair on my door because of one guest, trying to get into the rooms, with no one to complain to. The elevator stopped working and when I told them they were like “yes, and?” Aren’t you supposed to warn us or to at least put up a sign? Also the area was central BUT they have a bar so men will be approaching you. Be careful. Not worth the amount of money I payed at all. After my distress I clearly deserved a refund.
The shower pressure and the bed. The quiet when the people weren’t making noises on the hall.
