It was strange not to have the bed sheets included. I had to purchase them. Also, there was no water cooker or cups in the room. Paying for the use of a shower is another unusual custom regarding the price of the room. No Internet too.

The room was spacious, neat. Breakfast was good.

The rooms are a bit crowded so bring earplugs and a face mask for sure, and you need to go outside the building to get to the bathroom, so have some flip flops or something handy not just hiking shoes.

Convenient and beautiful location, delicious breakfast included in price. Staff was very accommodating, we arrived late and they made sure we would have dinner even though the kitchen had closed before we arrived

We stayed at the location while hiking the Malerweg trail, and it was incredibly convenient that they had their own restaurant serving delicious food and beer. After an exhausting 8-hour hike, we enjoyed a pleasant evening there.

May be a lock on the shower rooms? Wasn't a real problem.

4 adults shared a room with alpine bunks. We booked the bed linen as we were walking the Malerweg and didn't fancy carrying a sleeping bag. Bea was in touch with regards to where they were, which room and about breakfast. Also told to bring 50 cents each for the 5 minute shower which was really helpful! Other guests arrived after we had and one male had a shock entering the women's shower area. No locks on the door but I don't think it would normally be an issue - the staff were on a rest day. Bea was helpful with directions to and from the Malerweg and with dinner suggestions as their kitchen was closed.

Only one shower, rooms are very noisy (so need to be a bit lucky with your neighbours). Restaurant was closed (I guess always on Wednesdays), but the host did inform us the day before.

Breakfast was great, location amazing (although quite the walk from end of Malerweg stage). I think the beds were actually comfortable.

The communication about bedding and food only arrived at 10am on the day of our arrival. We were already hiking this point so didn’t find out there would be no food available until it was already too late. Be sure to check details before you leave.

We booked last minute and ended up arriving on foot in a huge rain storm to find no bedding and that no food would be served that night. I called the owners and they were amazing, coming out to give us bedding and to cook food specially for us. This is a great place to feel like you are in a real mountain hut while hiking in the Saxon Switzerland national park.

The Ottendorfer Hütte proved to be a great choice for our group of friends. Hosts were were always ready to answer our questions and provide knowledgable recommendations, since our booking to moment of arrival. Our group of friends did not all know German and the staff was very friendly and helpful in communication in English. The location is beautiful, with stunning natural surroundings that provided a peaceful atmosphere, and the facilities itself are really uniquely designed and clean. Even if you don't come by car, you can move easy with bus to Saxon Switzerland park, and beautiful tracks if going by foot - the Ottendorfer Hütte even gives a bus pass for the duration of the stay which is practical. The breakfast served each morning was very filling. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a combination of relaxing experience and good tracks with a little bit of adventure. It is suitable for families with kids, as solo traveler and group of friends. Thank you Ottendorfer Hütte team!

it’s a charming place, which is great for hikers and a stay in nature.

the only thing is the beds arrangement. being exactly next to each other. some modifications could be made to give more privacy to the bed and provide electrical sockets for them also. maybe something like a capsule bed

the hostel had the best staff especially the boss Frau Baer. very friendly and helpful. the vibe is suitable for a holiday for hiking in the area with the wooden cabins and nice greenery around. the breakfast included was nice and we were satisfied, especially the fresh bread. we don't eat pork so they apologised and asked us to tell them before hand to provide something more suitable and that was a nice gesture beside picking us up from the bus station which was super nice to do.

It is really "very hostel". Traveling by myself I had to take (and pay for) a four bed room (effectively 4 mattresses in a row) by myself. That makes the price excessive. Then you have to pay for every creature comfort on top, like beddings, towel, hot shower... breakfast was also rather low key

Staff was mostly friendly, at times slightly grumpy. Dinner was great. Room was clean but overall very no frills.

everything was shut apart from our bedroom. couldn't use any of the other facilities e.g living/eating area. just a basic room to sleep in . eery being there alone

The personnel during the evening in the dining room was impolite, long waiting time for a service and unpleasant conversation. Just two showers for so many people and 50 cent for 5min of hot water.

Good location, big parking, breakfast was fine.
