Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomCarmen and Andreas are exceptional hosts - very friendly, interested, always joyful. The ambience is quiet, beautiful. The breakfasts are just right - with an astonishing array of different cheeses. There is a good supper to be had there too, with a good selection of local wines. The rooms are beautiful and very quiet. The whole place is very tastefully decorated and incredibly clean.

NetherlandsEverything was great! Some more options for dinner would be great, but the flamkuchen was awesome!
The owners are super friendly and helpful. They always seem to have time for a quick chat and to give you some tips (even if your German is not that great). The hotel is located near the Feldberg, the Titisee and to many great hiking trails. The rooms are spacious and I even got an upgrade to one with a balcony. The breakfast is tasty and has everything you need. Highly recommended staying here!

United KingdomSomewhat limited evening menu - just the local equivalent of the taste flambé - where a little more would be a great bonus. Nearby hotel within walking distance or more available in town, a few miles away by car.
A great welcome from the recent owners Carmen and Andreas. A nice quiet small hotel; our (upgraded) room had a balcony and a rural view. Parking on site. Smallish but comfortable room. Everything clean and tidy. Honesty type bar and coffee in the corridor. Good breakfast.

BelgiumI would have loved to have a 2-person eiderdown, but that is not available. Maybe mosquito netting in front of the window so it can remain open all night. However the plus points far outreach any of the two "missing" things mentioned above.
The friendliness of Andreas and Carmen, the owners, was top. They were very concerned with my well-being and always have the time for a happy chat or some advice. The private parking straight in front of the hotel is not bordering the street as the hotel is tucked away in a quaint and narrow side alley that opens up just in front of its location I was upgraded to a room with a balcony and garden views which turned out smaller than expected (more a single than a double room, but the bed was big and the room super clean! The Japanese-style little garden with relaxing water features is part of the terrace adjoining the hotel and is very cozy. The place to be to unwind after a far drive. Up the garden hill there are benches to enjoy the view, relax with a cooling drink or write about your day. The breakfast is absolutely gorgeous and plentiful

United StatesWe loved our stay at the Hotel Obergfell. The hosts, Carmen and Andreas, put so much heart into their establishment. We had a charming stay in the beautiful Black Forest.

BrazilThe Cons: 1. A single bottle of water costs €2.80. That’s a blatant rip-off for something so basic. 2. The owner Andreas was unnecessarily picky and downright unpleasant. For example, during breakfast my wife wasn’t allowed to use just any cup for our coffee—it had to be the one HE dictated. 3. My wife took an extra piece of bread from breakfast to eat later, and Andreas out of the blue came up to our table to charge €5 for it. Who does that? 4. After all these incidents we couldn’t relax for a moment outside our room. He seemed to have his eyes on us the entire time (or maybe cameras?) which was incredibly intrusive and made the whole experience deeply uncomfortable. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. Save yourself the trouble and book somewhere else, even if it’s further away. Your peace of mind is worth it.
The Pros: • The cleanliness and organization of the hotel were up to standard. • The staff at reception were very welcoming and professional, making the check-in process smooth. • There are dedicated areas to store and dry your ski equipment, which is very convenient for winter sports enthusiasts. • The breakfast was typically German, with a good variety of bread, dairy, and wurst options. Definitely one of the better aspects of the stay. • The hotel itself has a cozy atmosphere, which could have been charming under different circumstances.
