I did not know that a “motel” means that you won’t have a fridge or a bin in the room. There is a bin in the bathroom, but it is not the same.

The location is amazing; staff are lovely; bar works 24/7, yet it is slightly pricey.

Everything was fantastic apart from one slightly rude member of the bar staff who behaved like he was in charge, but in actual fact he was a trainee. This didn’t distract from my overall experience though as the manager said she was going to have a word and I trust that she did. I’ll find out whether it’s worked when I go back there!

The rooms and bathroom are very simple, and somewhat small. We also found the breakfast to be a bit lacking and not often restocked as new guests came in.

Room was really hot and stuffy when I arrived, as the power is off to the rooms when you are not there so the air conditioning is not running. Windows do not stay open either. Took a good hour before it was comfortable.

City centre hotel, easy to find within walking distance of the railway station. About 30-40 minutes by train from Düsseldorf Airport and 10 minutes on the U-Bahn to Messe Essen. Motel One quality as expected, so no surprises!

The room is certainly small, not too comfortable for staying longer than two or three nights. The bed and pillows did not suit us in terms of comfort, although this does not happen often.

The Motel One hotel chain was an eye-opener for us: you can always expect a certain level of comfort and a good price. The design of the hotel is very original, pleasing to the eye. Clean and best central location. It is certainly a hotel, not a motel!

Motel one is just a great chain with high standards across all locations. However, staff is what really makes the (positive) difference. Please keep up the great work. Prices have risen quite a bit within the last few years though. So it’s not really the bargain it used to be anymore.

Very friendly staff that gave us a warm welcome. They were very friendly to our kids and were accommodating. The location was excellent for the Christmas market. The rooms were clean and well maintained and a good size. The parking was close to the hotel and the price was reasonable.

Even after the Christmas market closed there was a little bit of what sounded like machine noise. This eventually stopped and I assume it was something to do with the Christmas market. (The flip side of that is that you get all the benefits of having the Christmas market just outside the door.)

The fan was not able to be turned on in the room. It is winter and we wanted the window opened but there were drunk people making to much noise outside. The windows where amazing and when closed, you could not hear anything but then with no fan on the room got really stuffy.

The property was lovely. Great decorations, bar area, nice clean rooms and it smelled lovely.

Very well located and walking distance to Rathaus and Hauptbahnhof. The room and common areas were clean. The staff was attentive. The bar area in the lobby was spacious and the options were satisfactory. There was safe box and air condition in the room.

The only negative thing I would say is the missing hot buffet at breakfast (such as sausages or scrambled eggs).
