Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

BelgiumEverything was great, only a little playground outside for the children and a little terrace in the back to have a drink would have lifted it even next level.
Breakfast was just perfect. We even had fresh made waffles which the kids adored.

Everyone there was very helpful and good at communicating. I arrived after normal opening hours, but the procedure for getting my key was well described by email, and they even called me beforehand to check.

FranceThis is more a criticism of Booking.com than the hotel. Booking.com should understand that many people look for a hotel with a restaurant, because they are travelling long distances. Therefore an evening meal after several hundred kilometres of driving is really important. We arrived at this hotel to find the restaurant fully booked. We stamped our petulant, tired little feet, and the lovely staff found us somewhere to be fed. But the need to pre-book dinner, is something that should be flagged in "things you should know". That's on you, Booking.com.
A fabulous family run hotel. Like many German Country hotels, it was comfortable, the staff were really friendly and helpful and the location was great. The food was copious and well cooked. Good value for money.

NetherlandsIt’s ok the rooms and decoration are dated, but curtains were way too sheer/light. We also had tons of mosquitoes in our room as well as mosquito corpses & small blood stains on the walls and ceilings. Not very appealing.
Dinner was great, better than expected. Beautiful, but quite remote, surroundings. Quaint interior, very clean for the most part.
