Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandAt checkout, the gentleman who handled my checkout, had apparently been having lunch in the back office. He arrived at the front desk still chewing his food and was, frankly, not particularly polite.

United KingdomNo kettle, no coffee facilities. Dog and parking is extra.
Great location in the beautiful city of Weimar. It is an old hotel, but well maintained. We travelled with our small dog and were given a dog friendly room. It wasn’t very modern but we paid a good price for the room. Nevertheless we had to pay €20 extra for the dog and the parking was steep as well. But if you arrive by train, the Bahnhof is opposite the hotel and we f you don’t bring your pooch, the hotel is very reasonable.

Location was excellent just north of the city centre next to the railway statíon. Staff was friendly and it was also easy to park at a reasonable cost. The rooms are up to standard with excellent beds and pillows. Carpets on the floor, but they were anyway clean. The reception and dining area is a little bit old, but anyway charming. Breakfast was better than expected - good value for money.

United KingdomWe had no problems.
The staff were very friendly on arrival and departure and the hotel is extremely nice inside with very comfortable rooms. You can walk to the main attractions in Weimar in about 15 minutes and as we were travelling by train the location was perfect.

United KingdomStaff friendly and helpful. Good sized room and bathroom. Very good choice at breakfast. We had an evening meal which was very enjoyable especially when you could request smaller portions. Parking is available. Buses stop frequently outside the hotel but if, like us, you like to walk, it only takes 10 minutes to reach the shops and cafes.

GermanyMy room was facing the street with bus stop and it was too noisy to leave the window open. The room was too hot and stuffy then to sleep. The pillow was lumpy and needs to be replaced.
Great location near the train station and 10 mins walk from centre. Very friendly staff.

GermanyHand soap in my room ran out before I moved in, there was also no hygiene bags for disposal of menstrual products, which was a bit awkward (there was a plastic bag in the trash bin though, so I didn’t ask for hygiene bags). Room was a bit too hot (no air conditioning), they provided a fan which worked but was quite noisy.
Good location right opposite the train station and with convenient public transport to the city center. However, if you do not have city pass or Deutschland ticket it wouldn’t be as convenient to visit the city center.

GermanyThe room had a very stinky carpet, it was ok that it was simple but it felt like on purpose they make it look ugly with fluorescent light and cable ducts that are visible. The check out was very unpleasant by charging “surprise” extras, the problem of this is not necessary the charges if they’re justified, but the way the employee of the hotel communicated it without explaining well and with an arrogance that was very unpleasant.
The building is located in a very nice area and it looks amazing from outside and the lobby too. We had two room categories, the better one was ok, the standard was really less than standard I would say. In general personal were helpful whenever we had requests.

United KingdomWhilst the shower was brilliant, the shower tray was shallow and drained really slowly so we had to keep turning the shower off and waiting for it to drain. Even being careful, we managed to get water over the bathroom floor. (We did report this issue to the hotel.) The bathroom was quite small. Only one pillow each and they were very insubstantial (this seems to be the norm in Germany).
We really enjoyed our 4 nights at the Kaiserin Augusta. The location just across the square from the station is very convenient. It's a fairly pleasant 15 minute walk into the centre of town, or you can hop on a bus. In many towns/cities the area around the station is dirty and seedy - this is not the case in Weimar where it is quiet and clean and pleasant. The room was spacious and comfortable, with an extra chair and table to sit by, and well designed furniture. The windows opened and there was a radiator you could control. The shower was brilliant. The foyer area of the hotel is spacious and welcoming and there was a room where we could leave our luggage until check-in time. The breakfasts were really delicious. We hadn't booked any in advance but ended up having breakfast every day. We also ate our evening meal in the hotel restaurant twice, the main courses were very good (Thüringer beef and dumplings for example), the desserts less so. The staff at the hotel were lovely. The terrace by the restaurant didn't seem to be open yet for the summer, and when we asked we were told we couldn't sit there because it hadn't been cleaned. The next morning, the same member of staff was out there with a bowl of soapy water scrubbing the tables and chairs so that we could sit out there after breakfast with our coffee. What excellent service!
