Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing. For anyone who cannot take their luggage up stairs be aware there is no elevator. Not a problem for me.
I stayed for five nights. This is one of the best Hostels I have stayed in. Rooms and bathrooms were very clean and very safe due to the number of keycard points that had to be entered. The location is excellent in the Neustadt area - lots of bars and eating places close by and about a 30 minute walk to the Old Town (or get a tram). At night, the Neustadt area was my preference. However it was the friendliness of the staff and the social aspect of the hostel that differentiates it from other hostels. The bar is a great place to socialise and meet other guests - I met some great people while staying at Hostel Mondpalast - and the hostel organises social events most evenings. All of the staff were great but a special mention for Fabian for keeping our drinks flowing and for his conversation. Bike storage is also good for anyone cycling the River Elbe cycle path. I would recommend Hostel Mondpalast to anyone visiting Dresden - which is a fabulous city - and would definitely stay here again.

CanadaThe area around the hostel is noisy and smoky. The hostel itself hosts events on some days, so some of the noise comes from the hostel. We had to keep the window open during our stay due to the heat, but we had smoke from the hostel lounge and the hookah bar across the street permeating into our room, so it wasn't a comfortable stay. With the window closed, the noise didn't seem to be too bad, but unfortunately it wasn't an option for us. Also, the wifi wasn't consistent and sometimes had no internet even though were we able to connect. Lastly, €12 for a basic breakfast with bread/cheese/jam is quite expensive and there are many options nearby with similar prices that provide some better offerings. Of course, the breakfast is optional.
Private room was nice, though not much shelf or hanging space. Very high ceilings made it feel spacious. Free coffee in the lobby every day was a nice touch. Kitchen facilities a bit small, but definitely acceptable. Location is great, but has disadvantages.

UkraineIt's not the most convenient location, but everything else more than makes up for it
There is a lot of space, many toilets and showers. What I really liked is the little separate space in the showers where you can keep your belongings and they won't be wet. Free coffee, bar which looked cool (haven't had opportunity to try anything, but looked quite comfy and chill). If I'd have to stay in Dresden again, I'm definitely coming back to this hostel.

Czech RepublicThe staff was friendly, and the room and the bathroom were clean. The neighbourhood is vibrant with many cafés, pubs and restaurants. I liked the bike storage shed. My friend I travelled with left his helmet in the shed, and someone took it, thinking it was the shared stuff belonging to the hostel's bike sharing. The employees assisted and sent the helmet back to him once it was returned. I highly appreciate the help and care.

NetherlandsThere was quite some noise from the street from pub-goers late at night. In the morning, we were woken at 7:00 by the loud chiming of the bell of the nearby church. The staff gave us earplugs (which was very kind) but replacing the insulation strips around the windows would be a better solution.
Been here before, twenty years ago. Then with my future wife, now with my kids. The place has changed little and is still wonderful. The visitors' kitchen is now downstairs (was on the first floor then) and that is more convenient. We had a good time and enjoyed ourselves a lot!

NetherlandsThe Wi-Fi is quite unstable. Sometimes, it doesn't load anything and only becomes normal again in the evening. Overall, it is just usable but not very strong. I think the hotel should check it.
The hotel is spotless, surrounded by numerous shops and bars. Everything is fully equipped and located about 1.3 km from the station (walkable). Everything is fantastic—rooms, bathrooms, and toilets are cleaner than expected and very well-equipped. It would be even better if each bed had a curtain for more privacy. But overall, everything is absolutely great. I will definitely come back because why not? At this price, it’s truly a bargain.

Czech RepublicThis hostel offers pretty much anything you can dream of. The staff was super nice. The fully vegetarian breakfast was delicious. There was even a selection of board games and books in the common area which you could enjoy together with a cup of free coffee. It’s a place where you truly feel welcome.
