Need to call host to check in so be prepared with a German phone or calling app. We stayed in a top floor room so limited headroom. I couldn’t stand in the shower due to low ceiling. Stairs were almost vertical so not for the faint hearted. Breakfast was nice but limited choice.

The host engaged with all his guests. He was friendly and helpful, allowing us to leave a bag there for our return. The location was ideal for us doing the Malenweg. Breakfast was comprehensive and, in our case, shared with 6 others on an 8 seater table.

* I was aware that I was booking a room with a shared bathroom, but not that this would be on a different floor. Not so much an issue, just more for awareness * Not an issue with the accomodation, but be aware that a Friday night in Schmilka doesn't offer much in the way of dinner options. Ended up at the local walkers bar (great!), which was closing at 7pm!

* Robin, the host, was friendly and chatty - both in German and in English * Breakfast was at a communal kitchen table so you got to know your fellow house guests a little * Located right on the Malerweg * Perfect room setup - especially when you arrive soaking wet, with a place to hang clothes to dry, heating etc

We stayed there during our inline skating trip from Dresden to Děčín. I appreciated a special room for bicycles where I was able to park my Thule Chariot (sport stroller) and the baby chair at breakfast. We had a great chat with Robin!

Lovely little B&B with a great and very welcoming owner. You likely end up having breakfast in his kitchen! The location is superb, directly on a few trails leafing into the mountains. Secure bike storage too if you, like us, get here on the beautiful Elberadweg.

Very cozy views from the windows. Wood in the rooms smells magnificently. Very friendly host, who prepared a breakfast for us. Breakfast was quite unusual, it was held in a kitchen on the one big table with the other guests and the host himself. Schmilka is a small picturesque village, so finding a hotel innit was easier than getting to the village itself.

Shampoo /shower gel were not provided and there was nowhere to buy them, but this didn't trouble us much :) i'd recommend to bring your own!

The room was really spacious, and clean! We were warm and comfortable. It was nice to have the private bathroom. Robin (the host) is so friendly! It was nice to have breakfast in the common kitchen with the other guests.

very steep stairs (it was impossible for our dog to walk down the stairs on her own, and she is a very agile dog used to challenging obstacles) the kitchen is quite small and it can get very packed and a bit overwhelming feeling in the morning when you have to have breakfast with the other guests in such a reduced space the ceiling on the top-floor rooms is a too low even for a 1,84m tall person 😅 but I got the possibility of using the showet downstairs where I could stand up

Very entertaining host and a large breakfast at the shared kitchen table. The kitchen can also be used to cook your own dinner or just to hang out and chat with other guests. The room is spacious with a good shower.

No info sent so had to call on arrival to find our room (owner was away). It wasn't warm in the night and duvets were very thin. Wardrobe just had a single extra blanket and we were three in the room; pillows not so comfortable; we didn't sleep so well. Didn't enjoy being asked to pay additional money next morning - tourist tax, levied on each guest, inc. kids (I'd assumed all that stuff was included in price, as it has been for any other place we've stayed - gotta check the small print!). Place is pretty dead after 7.30 - no food/bars.

Room was big, with en suite. Didn't mind the steep stairs. Quiet location. There's a pay-and-display car park across the main road. Breakfast was OK; met and chatted with other travellers at communal table.

our host Robin had amazing energy and made us feel at home after a long day on the road. the location is beautiful with plenty of hiking trails within minutes. breakfast was a community affair and there were many great conversations. sad we only stayed one night, but would love to return and stay longer.
