Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

RomaniaI didn't get the parking place in the end. We were sent to the public parking place where we had to pay
It was cleaned and spacious. The breakfast was fine but quite difficult for vegetarian choices.

GermanyI had come in through the restaurant / bar area and the receptionist pointed to the main door saying the one I had come through would not be open in the evening. He did not explain, however, that I had to use my room card to enter the hotel, a system I had not come across before. I was surprised when I got back at night and there was nobody there and I was unable to enter the hotel. Perhaps the wine drunk at dinner did not help but please show guests how to enter the hotel at night. The man I rang was very patient and polite.
The location, the breakfast, the bed was comfortable, bathroom a good size

GermanyThere was no air conditioning in the room. On a very warm day it is too hot in the room ( the room looked at the public parking at the backside).
It is in walking distance from all the sightseeing places. There rooms were very spacious (including the bathroom).

Czech RepublicWe stayed there in the middle of summer and were just roasting in the room which was facing a little passage way between the houses. Our room had no aircon and the fan was offered to us only while we were leaving (should have been when checking-in really). We travelled with our two little dogs (6 kg each) and were charged 33 EUR for them. Total rip off! This is also the reason why I would not choose this hotel again. Without a pet, however, it's easily recommendable.
The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Meissen so if you're into urban tourism, do not hesitate to book a room. The building is full of character and the breakfast was outstanding (prosecco included)! We even ate in the hotel restaurant and we can also recommend that! Really tasty.

PolandService at the front desk: two ladies were charming and most helpful. The gentleman who checked us in was rather impatient and kind of irate. Perhaps not very happy to serve Polish guests.
Breakfast was excellent, nice choice with some local products, good selection of beverages and bread, everything fresh and tasty. Location is fantastic for sightseeing, most tourist attractions within walking distance. Municipal parking just at the hotel’s back door is a great asset. Meissen is a beautiful historic place, I highly recommend it for a long weekend and if I ever come back Goldener Loewe will be my first choice. One advice: if you do not feel like climbing numerous stairs up the castle hill, there is a very convenient lift close to the castle parking :).

BelgiumThe staff could be more courteous. Upon arrival, I was reprimanded for not responding to an email—which had been written entirely in German—despite having spent the whole day driving from Belgium. When I mentioned the language barrier, I was simply told to use Google Translate. At breakfast, as we were a group of three with a small child, we were seated in a separate room that felt a bit neglected, with a shabby atmosphere and a tablecloth stained with ketchup. Finally, when it came time to pay the tourist tax by card, the staff member’s reaction made it seem like a major inconvenience, and she didn’t even say goodbye as we left.

United StatesThe woman working the front desk started our stay on a very bad note. I accidentally booked two Jr Suites and only two people total, should have been four people. I thought I was booking two rooms with two people in each. The woman challenged me on this with a tone I didn't appreciate and didn't immediately offer me much of a solution except that this was unacceptable. The more we talked, the more it became apparent that she was really wanting us to pay for the additional guests. The 35 euro extra was more than 1/3 the price I paid for the room, so I thought it was excessive but agreed to pay because there didn't seem to be a choice. Later that night our friends had a situation with their room, particularly the shower. The shower is actually a folding door that divides the tub into a really small space (think box) and in his room these doors were made of tempered glass. After he showered he said he was reaching for a towel and the doors retracted hit the wall and one of the panels shattered, leaving him with and tub and bathroom full of glass. This caused several cuts on his legs and feet. He called trying to get another room and this was also an issue. In the morning the rude woman was back wanting to address the situation. They went to the room to investigate where she saw blood in the tub and then seemed to be concerned with his well-being. The soultion she suggested and my friend reluctantly accepted was $900 EUROS for what I consider a bad and dangerous design. I hope all who read this "beware" and take notice. This is NOT an ideal situation for anyone to put themselves in and potentially dangerous. My hope is that BOOKING.com will jump in and offer to look into this and hopefully offer my friends some relief. We didn't let this ruin our visit to Meissen, but we were completely dissatisfied with the chain of events that took place at this hotel.
The room was clean and for the most part comfortable and the location was ideal for what we were wanting to see in Meissen.
