Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyI stayed at the Gästehaus Leipzig when I visited a RB Leipzig match. The place is really nice and the location great – very close to the city and also to the stadium. Check-in was as easy as can be. There was a small kitchen with a fridge, kettle and coffee machine. The rooms are a little outdated, but still in good condition, bath rooms renovated. I slept really well and had nothing to complain about.

United StatesThere were 61 stairs to our room and no elevator. The house is a block away from the police department and we heard many sirens in the night.
Large room. Breakfast was good and there was a lot of variety.

CanadaI do have to mention that on arriving at Gästehaus Leipzig, and not having a mobile phone which was able to call the contact number provided in the email which I received, I did find it a challenge to get through the locked gates at the front of the building. Luckily one of the policemen guarding the U.S. Consulate General allowed me to use his phone to call Gästehaus Leipzig, and the problem was solved. However, since I am presently trying to learn German anyway, I found the challenges (including deciphering the German email which I was sent) an opportunity. I might say that with my visit to Gästehaus Leipzig, "Ich war die Treppe hinaufgefallen."
For a Canadian travelling to Leipzig for the first time and knowing "nur ein bisschen Deutsch," I found that Gästehaus Leipzig is a good example of what I have found in my (so far limited) other brief trips around Germany: it's better to know a lot more about where you are going before you get there. Given the impressive building which Gästehaus Leipzig occupies, and its proximity to the U.S. Consulate General located on Wilhelm-Seyfferth-Strasse 4, I suspected that the building might have an interesting history, and it does. Although, I only found this out from an internet search after returning from my trip, the building which was constructed in 1908 for the publisher Arthur Seemann on Wächterstraße 32, became the seat of the Polish Consulate General from 1936-1939. I'll let you look up the rest of its history as I did. Staying overnight at Gästehaus Leipzig also put me right next door to several other historic places such as the Federal Administrative Court of Germany located in a building whose construction was completed in 1895. The courtyard in front of this building became the location for the first freedom demonstrations in November 1989 which lead to the reunification of Germany. Also next door is the Leipzig University Library located in a building whose exterior sculptures reference some of key historic individuals who shaped the modern era. It also put me within walking distance to the New City Hall, the world famous Churches of St. Thomas and St. Nicholas, as well as the Johann Sebastian Bach Museum. The Old City Hall, built in 1556-57, aside from housing various presently active commercial shops, is also the location of the City of Leipzig's Historical Museum which was definitely worth a visit. My stay at Gästehaus Leipzig was enjoyable. My single room was quite clean with a modern bathroom and all the amenities. The management was quite accommodating and the breakfast buffett very good.

SwedenThe room was a bit cold at night. When I checked out very early around 5.30 A.M. the automatically driven stairs lights were not working! It was a complete darkness while I was in the second floor with a cabin bag
Clean, tidy, freshly smelled and very spacious room. Very quiet area so that you can sleep in peace. All facilities were available. Good wifi signal, great location, many bus and tram stops are within 4 minutes walk distance. Nice staff (both the receptionist and the cleaner), clean toilet. Easy self check in as per the booking messaging.
