Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumDiner was included, but only untill 20h. This means you need to leave the wellness quite early.
We had a spacious appartment, and could relax in swimming pool and wellness. Nice trip with the ferry to reach the hotel, and perfect starting point for a hike, walk or run along the river or into the hills (to Basteibrücke).

Poland1. We booked an economy room that was supposed to have a view of the courtyard, but the window actually faced a service shaft with loud ventilation pipes. We weren’t in the room much during the day, so can’t say how often the noise was noticeable, but we did hear it at certain times (around 2-2:30 pm and 7-7:20 pm). Fortunately, it was quiet at night and in the morning until ca. 10:30, so it didn’t disturb our sleep. 2. The lighting in the room was quite poor - there was only a dim floor lamp and a wall light near the entrance. There was no ceiling light, and the bedside lamps didn’t work.
1. The hotel is in a fantastic location - a beautiful neighborhood not far from the Saxon Switzerland National Park, with easy access to public transport. 2. A lovely extra was the free ferry tickets for crossing the Elbe, which were handed out right at the hotel. 3. The room was clean, and everything we needed was provided. 4. The mattresses were very comfortable - we slept really well. 5. The staff was very attentive and spoke German, English, and Ukrainian, which made communication easy. 6. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, with a nice variety of dishes. Despite a few downsides, the overall experience was pleasant. I would happily come back, though next time I’d choose a room with a view of the Elbe.

CanadaThe pool/spa/sauna is very dirty and smells horrible. There is excessive mold smell and the tiles outside the sauna have a heavy layer of scum. We care because we have knowledge specific knowledge about pool maintenance.
Great location, easy to find.

GermanyWell... this has somewhat to do with the hotel itself, but rather with it's location... so, the hotel itself, although in a very beautiful natural location, is located somewhat... hm... remotely (it is the last building on one side of the village). The hotel is on one side of the river Elbe, but the parking lot is on the other. Railway station too. So, if you come by car or train, you have to park (parking is susidised by the hotel, so you pay less than the stated price; 8 EUR for the day, at the time this was written, Dec.2024), take the ferry to the other shore and then get to the hotel. From the hotel's side, to get across, one has to walk some 150m from the hotel to the ferry, take or wait for the ferry (this can take literally 5 minutes, or it can take 20 if the ferry is on the other shore or if it just left... it is a very short ride, Elbe is literally 50m wide at that point, was it not winter, I would have swum) and get across. Same is for going back. The ferry is available every day, however only until 23:45 o'clock and from as early as 05:XX o'clock (forgive me, it was vacation and I had no intention of getting up so early to find out). When one has some luggage, it is rather impractical to carry all that and the whole ordeal between parking one's car and getting into the hotel can take more than half an hour and be somewhat phisically challenging. The ferry is also not covered (against weather elements; rides are completely free for hotel guests), so... if it's raining or snowing... you have to endure it. Also, Oberrathen (the place where one parks) has some rather intense railway traffic (both passenger and cargo), so waiting to get in or out of the village can take quite a while (we once waited almost 20 minutes on the railway crossing, since there was only one road). Railway is not bothersome and cannot be heard from the hotel, at all. However, from the traffic point of view, one has to count on being patient.
The whole place is EXCEPTIONALLY clean. It is located directly on shores of Elbe and is beautiful and very quiet. From whichever room, the view is beautiful. Our room was rather small, but with the big comfy bed (and additional one). The bathrooms were spotless and spatious enough. The water was very warm. Breakfast and dinner are fabulous and plentiful (dinner is not ''a' la carte'', but rather meal of the day, nevertheless, very nice and tasty). We came in winter, so we very much appreciated how warm it is in the hotel. The Saunas/Spa and the swimming pool are fantastic, warm and relaxing. The staff is very friendly and helpfull. The whole nature area is beautiful and the location is great (in 2 minutes, one is already hiking and trekking). Stay also includes free ferry ride and discount on the parking. WiFi is very good.

PolandIf you get a room at the back of the building you have no view and extremely noisy pipes. No air conditioning and no option to open the window. So recommended to check exactly which room you book.

FranceDo not book the partial Elbe view & balcony room because the partial view is not as big as it appears in the pictures; it’s just a narrow gap and the view is obstructed by a column. Therefore, I recommend booking either the river view or the city view rooms Swimming pool is small
The hotel’s location is excellent. It’s a 5-minute walk to the entrance of the Bastei Bridge, and there’s a pedestrian street right behind the hotel. It’s also close to several hiking trail entrances. The hotel itself is quite nice. The bed is very comfortable, and while the room isn’t large, it is well-arranged, making it an ideal place for a short stay. Sauna is simple but enough.

My son and I were completing the Malerweg and decided to finish Day 7 at Stadt Wehlen (Completing stage 7 and part of stage 8). Kurort Rathen is a short train ride from Stadt Wehlen (Free if you have the Gastkarte), and then a ferry ride across the Rhine. We arrived late in the evening (after the restaurant had closed) and as we were booked for half-board, the staff had provided two lovely salads which were waiting for us in our room. We received a very warm welcome when we eventually arrived. The room was clean and comfortable. I really liked the swimming pool, and great breakfast. If I had known how good the hotel was I would have extended Day 1 on the outward trek and stayed here (Just a short distance off route), and then returned on Day 7. Lovely hotel, thoroughly recommended.

United KingdomOnly a suggestion, Rathen area will likely attract more English speaking guests, therefore it might be useful if the Hotel Information envelope has English translation.
The decor of the entire hotel was well thought out which made it a very relaxing ambience. The buffet meals provided a good selection of choices and the AI Cat waiter was fun to watch at breakfast. The location is idyllic for those who like to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life.

GermanyBreakfast buffet with a great choice of food and drinks. Everything was fresh, with a lot of vegetables. The breakfast and restaurant room with a nice tables and comfortable chairs. Amazing food served by the chef in the evening, with different choices every day. Rooms are spacy, we got a nice one on the fourth floor with a side view of the river. Spa and pretty big swimming pool however at certain times it was pretty busy. Hotel is located on the bank of Elbe river, accessible by the ferry. Best for trails in Saxon Switzerland National Park and only 30 minutes walk to famous Bastei and Basteibrücke Bridge.
