Probably the hotel needs updating but it is perfectly useable for anyone.

There is so much that is good about this hotel, the position in the woods on the edge of a precipice overlooking Bad Emms, the wonderful breakfast and the staff.

We found the bed a little low and had difficulty getting in and out.

This is a beautiful quaint hotel tucked away in the hills with a beautiful view of Bad Ems. Very peaceful. The room was lovely with a lovely balcony, the hosts very friendly and helpful and the breakfast is excellent. Loved everything about Berghotel Wintersberg.

The restaurant was closed but luckily there were some restaurants which would accept delivery to the hotel. No elevator, but the stairs aren't that many ;)

The location for those who love nature and the calm. The room size, setup, and view. The bed size and comfort. The breakfast was great too. The small playground for children.

The rooms are clean, but require some renovation.

We are coming to this place 3rd time. It's very cosy, great location overlooking the city, beautiful view. Amazing owners and hospitality, top breakfast which hasn't changed since 1st time we were there 6 years ago.

Directions to the hotel - non existant as sat nav took one to the postal address not the hotel itself/

Room comfortable, but dark - probably due to the close proximity of the forrest. Superb views from the terraced patio. Breakfast was good. Address of hotel not good as the address given is the postal address hotel is some 3 miles away up a long forrest track. Then one has to telephone the owner to get the passwords for the key safe. If it was not for the help of a local man & his son, we would never have found the place. Owner needs to address the directions provided on Booking.com

A peaceful forest retreat above the spa town of Bad Ems

We would have preferred to know how to access the accommodation in advance of our arrival. After a long drive, it was a bit disconcerting to have to make a phone call to find the way in, but it all worked out OK as it wasn't raininh and we weren't kept waiting very long.

Very comfortable accommodation in a lovely location. We appreciated the tea and coffee making facilities and the bar fridge.

Nothing - it was really great!

Beautiful location, great views all around. Very comfortable rooms, excellent food, a lot of loving detail. We were a family group which had booked three bedrooms and the owner gave us deliberately one bigger room with two sofas, so we could sit together in the evening.

The restaurant was closed, not sure if temporarily or not, but it would've been good to have at least a snack machine or something to soothe hunger after a long day.

The hotel is located in a very nice area with a wonderful view. It is very clean, the beds comfy and the breakfast amazing.

Hotel wasn't manned when we arrived late afternoon although our room key was in a key safe and we were given instructions over the phone. The restaurant was closed and it was too far to walk to the town so, after driving all day, we had to drive to get dinner.

Loved the quietness of the place. Our room was spacious, with sofa and chairs as well as the bed which was very comfortable. The balcony was big, with chairs and table. Breakfast was excellent, everything you could wish for (perfectly boiled eggs) and was served on the terrace with a lovely view. The home-made jam was amazing- I bought 2 jars!

The view from the hotel was beautiful and the situation was quiet and restful. The terrace enhanced the outlook. Breakfast was excellent everything fresh and beautifully set out. The staff serving us were very helpful and attentive.

Nice hotel in a beautiful setting. The room was very clean with a big balcony, although not much view. But the view from the terrace is spectacular. Breakfast was good and the owners very friendly. Would definetely come back.

Booking.com suggested there would be a restaurant for diner too, but the hotel only does this occasionally (I believe once a week in the weekend)

Location is beautiful, very romantic with a great view over the area. The village at the bottom of the hill is beautiful too and easily reached. Rooms are very spacious. Breakfast is really good. Most importantly, the staff is amazing!

Everything was perfect. Very nice cosy hotel in the middle of forest on a hill with great view upon Bad Ems. Room very comfortable and beautiful, bath well equipped and clean. Great breakfast and great friendly staff. We had a great stay, would be happy to come back.

This was our second stay at Berghotel Wintersberg and we had a lovely time. We've travelled across Europe with two little children so we really appreciated the box of Lego that awaited us in our room! The breakfast is fabulous, the beds are very comfortable and the rooms are spacious and clean. We will be back!
