United KingdomI didn’t expect much given the good price for one night but the room just wasn’t clean. there were spider webs everywhere along the ceiling and hair in the shower. The shower door didn’t close properly which caused a little bit of flooding on the bathroom floor, there was no ventilator or window in the bathroom. Since there was no air con in the room, it was incredibly hot, almost too hot to sleep.

NetherlandsDuring our stay (June 2024) they were renovating the hotel across from our hotel. But apparently, they share certain facilities (breakfast bar, lounge, reception) with the Base l Hotel. Breakfast was not so much a slow start of the day as there were already people working on site (a lot of drilling, hammering, etc). The breakfast was good and the staff was kind but the noise carried and was not mentioned when we booked the room a few weeks before. Also, our room was close to the train station so we had to close the windows when we went to sleep to block out the noise. All in all, we had some bad luck with our visit and timing. I’m confident that the hotel is good, but I would recommend calling them beforehand and ask about the renovation / building noise status.
The room was quite spacious and clean for a hotel room.

The room is newly refurbished, all very clean, beds are really comfortable. Free parking with enough space and just couple of minutes drive to Basel. Great location for a weekend in Basel on budget.

GermanyThe carpark area didn't feel too safe, but turned out ok after 1 night.
Once in the hotel, it was a different world compared to the area outside the front door. Very basic but clean and modern. We only used it as a stopover going south, so it was ideal. The Swiss border (abandoned post, it looks like) is just a 5 min walk. I recommend the chicken place next door for a simple dinner.

NetherlandsBased on the pictures one expected the reception to be staffed, but no, we found the front-door closed. It took a while before I noticed that I had received an email and a message via booking that contained a code to get the key from a key-safe. Maybe I have overlooked that detail… Where to park your car is also a bit vague, because the parking lot in front of the hotel is private. These things can happen and were solved on the spot. What did bother us was that flat roofed room was very warm. There is no airconditioning, but fortunately there was a (noisy) fan…
The room was modernised, had enough space and was clean. The bathroom and toilet were plain, but had everything one needs and was also clean. For breakfast the hotel offered fresh bread and various other nice things.

SwitzerlandThere's literally no noise isolation and the hotel staff is still speaking loudly in corridors even if they know it well. This needs to be fixed. Change doors and invest a bit.
Everything is clean and functional. Nothing extra nothing less. Rooms are big enough and if you want to do stuff in Basel there's tram n6 that's very nearby. I was late for the breakfast so don't know anything about it...
