As others have stated, it's begging for a couch/sofa in the main kitchen dining area. There's enough room for it. Maybe a wall mounted modern smart TV too. That said, we were happy to sit at the table (enough for 6) every night we were in the apt. Again, as highlighted there's not much natural light in this area but it didn't put us off. The decor is traditional German and the 80s style shrank is loaded with crockery and glasswear etc. Some of the cookware was dirty but I suspect that was the previous occupants being lazy. There are wall mounted flat screen TVs in each of the rooms but they're pretty old, certainly not smart. I took a firestick with me but no HDMI connections. There is wifi but it wasn't that great anyway. It works, just not the best signal being in the basement. I could get 4G on my phone but not mega fast. Better outside. Loads of channels on the TVs though, if you can understand German or don't mind either way. Beds were comfy enough, I think my mattress was better than the wife's though. Shower and bathrooms were good, plenty of hot water too. Towels are supplied but they're thin, worn and not the biggest. Adequate but I'd take my own next time. You'd need your own toliteries, obviously.

The location is awesome, as is anywhere in the Eifel. We came for a week away with family to a destination we love visiting. The Nurburgring and surrounding areas. The house is located a few kms away from the main town Adenau (shops & restuarants) and nearby to Nurburg itself (more places to eat amongst other stuff to do). It's certainly close enough to hear the race cars on the Nordschleife come race day and if you walk 20 mins you'll be trackside at Aremburg. Unfortuntely this week there were road closures in Wimbach so a usual 5km / 5 mins drive down the hill into Adenau was a 15 km / 20 mins diversion. Nothing agasint the host or the apt, just poor luck for us. Worse for all of the villagers though as they are suffering too (for 14 weeks!). The temporary diversion road up and down between Kottenborn and Barweiler is an interesting drive though. Parking is plentiful and whilst not covered or 'secure' the area is out of way and and more than safe. The apt itself is in the basement of the main house where the owners live, who were lovely btw. They don't speak much if any English so you'll need to buff up on your GCSE German or get your google translate out. Email correspondence was good but I guess they translate it too. It was nice to practice my German at least. The apt has everything you would need. We did a mix of eating out and using the kitchen facilities to cook for ourselves. As stated, everything we needed was there. We had a toddler with us and they provided a cot, high chair and bedding. Three rooms all with en-suite. We used 2 of them, on the side with windows looking out onto the countryside. The other side had cellar windows and not so much natural light. Still adequate though. Shutters on the windows are just awesome. Would love these on our house in the UK. We got this apt at a great rate, cheaper than anywhere else at the time and for 6 nights it was well worth it, despite the (few) minor points.
