How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe house totally was empty and scary. We were searching how to get in and for our room almost 15 minutes. The instruction by the provider were chaotic and unclear. In winter time the rooms are very far to be cozy.
Dear Pavel, We cannot leave this rating as it is. We described how to get to the apartment in the Booking.com chat before your arrival. We explained it to you on the phone in German and English. And in the letter where the key was, there was the description of how to get to your apartment. You confirmed to us that you found the key, but you disregarded the description in the envelope. After we pointed this out to you, you read it. We also told you that other people live in this house and that guests were staying with us at the same time. It is possible that they were not there during the few minutes you were with us - which is their right on vacation. We have fulfilled our conditions and always try our best. The apartment was always clean & warm. You would not make such a review if you had arrived properly and used this apartment. You saw the pictures of the apartment on Booking.com and then booked it. We don't think it's fair that you blame us for this, although we have described the route to you several times - both in writing and by telephone. For further questions and answers we are always at your disposal and perhaps you will give us and our apartment another chance. Kind regards, the Team of the Albergo Toscana

Shampoo, conditioner, coffee would help. Access through a flight of stairs annoying.

Verified reviewGreat location. Easy to reach many places on foot, including spa, market square, bike rentals, and tram to national park. We enjoyed the clean, comfortable and quiet rooms and breakfast selections.
While I did like the 24 hour bar where coffee, tea and wine was available, I still wished our room had a tea kettle in it :)

Verified reviewHow often do you book a small apartment with it's own private, secluded garden and patio at a hotel? Well, Albergo-Toscana offers just that - and it's as luxurious as it sounds. The annex was the perfect place to return to after walking the Malerweg trail being able to relax in the garden and prepare a homemade meal in the small kitchen. And if you ever dreamt of showering inside with the feeling of almost being outside in the lush greens, then you've found your place.

Verified reviewAlbergo-Toscana was the perfect point of departure as a one-location hotel for walking the Malerweg trail. Breakfast has everything you could dream of, and almost all of it homemade. The hotel is close to the city center, but staying there is calm and relaxing. All of Albergo-Toscana radiates charm, quality and an excellent cleaning standard. And not to be forgotten! The beds are just perfect.
I did miss being able to make a cup of tea in the room we stayed - but you can go downstairs in the cosy hotel living room and buy one 24/7.

Verified reviewNice historic building conveniently situated close to the town centre, with clean and comfortable rooms. Convenient off-street parking next to the hotel. Beer and wine by the glass (or whole bottles) available 24/7 from the drinks machine in the dining room.
If you want to open windows at night, the only rooms recommended are the ones facing the back garden due to a busy road outside. Bring your own internet - we could not connect to the hotel WiFi in our room on 2nd floor, despite several attempts (- the lack of WiFi is the only reason to give this place an overall rating of 8.0 instead of 9.0 or over!)

Verified reviewI loved the interior design of the entire hotel and the room: warm and mediterranean, yet minimalistic, low-key and classy, without going overboard with decorations and ending up kitchy. I absolutely loved the bed sheets! They felt super nice on the skin. The breakfast was very tasty. I liked how the kitchen personnel took personal care of each guest, offering them coffee and eggs up to their preferences. And the cat at the reception is absolutely adorable!
